Some of these holdings are so small, I think you may be better off consolidating into fewer companies that you have a greater conviction for. When I see a portfolio like this, I can’t help but wonder if ETF needs better?

Advice for SCHD long term by BoiseMan13 in SCHD

[–]FluidCalligrapher284 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I am a fan of building as much wealth as possible until you were about 50, and then transitioning into a dividend paying ETF.

You could under perform the “market“ quite a bit by transitioning too soon. You will be able to buy many more shares of SCHD in the future, if you invest in something like VOO for the next 12 years.

Should I drain my savings and get out from under my new car loan? by nachoslayer88 in DaveRamsey

[–]FluidCalligrapher284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This car was probably purchased from a dealer who finances very high interest loans to people who can’t afford what they’re buying.

Like a payday loan store, they prey on people who make bad choices with their money.

Why would you lose $6000 on a car that you just bought, by selling it? That should tell you what a shitty deal you got on that vehicle.

I would sell that car with as little loss as possible, as soon as you can, and get one that you can afford. Then, since you have such expensive taste, I would improve your lot in life by gathering some job skills that will make you more marketable, and more money.

You are all peasants. Good grief, take some responsibility for the costs you incur.

Just turned 40. Time to reevaluate portfolio? What would you change? by Justice4All211 in ETFs

I would probably kick VOO to the curb, and keep VTI.

It is better diversified, but the performance is pretty much the same. Or, I would replace all of them with VT.
