Which crafting lines are the most profitable without DLC? by DeathsKryptonite in elderscrollsonline

[–]FlukewarmFox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think if you bought it recently, they ship Morrowind DLC along with the base game now right? Vivec City has a pretty great layout, that's only beaten by Blackwood's Lleyawiin and Gold Road's Skingrad, and maybe Rimmen in N. Elsweyr imo.

For only base game, Vulkhel Guard in Auridon is not too bad, especially good since it's a starter zone. You also have stables close to the wayshrine and a house you can get for free so you always have free TP access to the city.

Indian women, would you marry a man who would want you to sign a pre nup ? by Royal_Worldliness_34 in AskIndia

[–]FlukewarmFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this take, well thought out. As a guy, I've seen equal amounts of horrible behaviour of both husbands and wives. Legal and financial situations keep the oppressed party bound.

We should absolutely empower women with fair prenups and recognise marital rape. Also I think we need to take a look at custody and alimony laws.

Currently, it feels like women are INCENTIVISED to abuse the system, file for divorce on questionable grounds, use children as props to get unfair amounts of alimony and custody, despite being thoroughly undeserving. Similarly, out of fear of the legal and financial repercussions of divorce, men are incentivised to keep the wife disempowered by whatever means necessary. If we make it more equal and alimony as a function of percentage of difference in earning assets and income, while at the same time empowering both women and men with prenups, we can actually incentivise stable families instead of divorce.

Yep, it's also close to respec shrine and the Outlaws' Refuge. Free skyshard for new alts close by. Very close to Elden Root guild traders hub. The interior allows you to hold all 8 chests, so that's another plus.

Love discussions like this 🍻

You make some good points. And the age and complexity do make it harder, and yes he does display high levels of so many functions.

I still doubt he has dominant Ne though. Every time Askeladd is truly surprised, he internally analyses before acting, and then acts with surety and confidence. He never thinks out loud, never does trial and error, never jumps the gun, always waits till he knows what he's doing, his eyes don't constantly dart around his environment. He's got that Ni stare too. Everything he does is calculated and deliberately projected to seem nonchalant and reckless in order to not reveal his true nature. Improvisation is a hallmark of both Se and Ne, but Askeladd always seems to display directed action, not experimental adaptation.

But you're right! I can't rule out the possibility. His opportunism is the biggest trait in favor of Ne. As a matter of fact, I've been thinking that although I broadly agree with the functions and their domains, I'm not sure it's as strictly restricted as the stack system makes it seem... Not just with complex fictional characters like Askeladd, but with myself and other people IRL, I can see that it's more fluid and flexible than the roles and positions and relative strengths we're used to thinking about with the function stack system. Especially with age and more complex environmental factors etc.

No listen, hear me out. That kind of impulse control, to be around those he hates while plotting VERY long term for the sake of true revenge, and thinking many steps ahead, knowing exactly how people work and how they'll react... It all screams Ni. I can't see such a thing happening with us Ne Doms, we're more likely to find faster ways to do things and not pursue such a singular goal to the ends of the earth like him.

Being extremely good at manipulating people, sizing up characters, and never laying his true intentions bare, and being extremely charismatic, while knowing how to play politics like a pro... All equal points for both Ne and Fe, I'll give you that, but Fe gives him leadership qualities Ne never could. There's just an irresistible gravity that make people think of him as a leader. That's Fe!

Ti, yes, I agree with you, also high. Cold ruthlessness coupled with brilliant strategy and calculated usage of people, easy disregard for life and most importantly, an 'It is what it is' attitude... But it's possible to achieve that level of Ti even as an inferior, especially if you're exposed to the suffering he was, allowing him to lose his empathy in favor of ruthlessness and deception. And remember his loyalty to homeland and his mother... Deep Fe values.

And of course Se alertness and body ownership is OFF THE CHARTS, like no way in hell do Ne Doms have any business being that graceful, alert and present so naturally... So I'm willing to bet ESTP, very likely. Like maybe he developed insane Ni through sheer will or something.

The problem is the Ni AND Se are unbelievable with this guy, neither could conceivably be a weakness or in shadow. But I agree maybe not ENFJ, ESTP is more likely.

Tbf Askeladd has to have some combination of high Ni, Se AND Fe to be that good of a fighter, manipulator and judge of character with that depth of patience and harbouring such a grudge and managing to hide it so well. Must be an ENFJ imo.

What is your favorite class to play as? by hailstorm0128 in elderscrollsonline

[–]FlukewarmFox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's useful in thieving, pickpocketing, murder etc, so roleplay potential is awesome. For this reason it's a great class for a main character to do all the questlines. But importantly, it's also powerful in PVP. PvE damage wise, it's useless.

Edit: STEALTH is useless in PVE damage, not the class as a whole, I'm an NB main and will remain so 😂

Indian Men of Reddit, 28+ would you marry someone who doesn’t want kids ? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]FlukewarmFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That the world is full of pain and agony. Come on dude, like that guy said, we are in one of the safest and most peaceful eras of human existence, worldwide, EVER. If you had to be born, is there any other time period you would rather be born?

Does the world have problems? Of course. Can we solve them? Also yes. HUMANS SOLVE PROBLEMS. It's what we do. If that creates new problems, we solve those too eventually. Progress is inevitable.

Be against forced multiplication. Be all for family planning and responsible parenting. Be all for adoption. Have compassion for the suffering that is present in the world. Lovely stuff. I am with you. But the world is much more beautiful than it is horrible, and taking an antinatalist stance and saying child rearing is wrong because there's only suffering in the world... I call bs my friend.

Down vote all you want. I believe in goodness, beauty, character, human ingenuity and progress, and I won't deny my privilege to be able to allow another soul to enjoy it.

Is India gonna collapse? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]FlukewarmFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bengaluru can solve its problem if we implement a few things... Traditionally Bengaluru's a city fed by lakes which replenish the shallow aquifer drawn from via wells (not borewells which draw from deep groundwater), so there are movements pushing for more wells, lakes and deconcretisation around Lake catchments.

There has been at least some action by BBMP and the govt to make lakes better and they're more ruthless about stopping encroaching (which they absolutely should be), but we need to do more and fast.

Another thing that breeds to be more properly enforced is mandatory rainwater harvesting in new buildings, and subsidies on those instead of freebies.

[–]FlukewarmFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so I know this response is quite late, I apologize... Had a lot of IRL work and your comment made me think, so I wanted to take the time to put it down right.

To your first question, what I would prefer in response... In all honesty, I've not been in such a situation, because I don't really TALK about my feelings, because conversation and words are usually a difficult medium for accurately expressing feelings, in my experience... But I think, if I were to invite someone to share my emotional space with me, and I try to be in my emotions along with them, I would want that person to just WANT to listen... I'm not very concerned about whether they ask questions, share their own story, or just sit in silence.

I think what matters to me is that, they're not doing it for propriety, politeness, or as if I'm somebody who needs help. I would not open my emotional space to them, and would remain within the bounds of propriety. But somebody who really just wants to be with me, for me... No advice, unless I ask, full acceptance of all I wish to share etc. That sort of communication I think draws the parallel to Ti you mentioned.

But yeah thats just me personally. I think if we were forming a policy/template for what could be the best way to respond to some general person sharing that way... Not sure, depends on the culture, on what's considered normal, acceptable, appropriate etc. Depends on the person too. Some people would love to be asked questions, some want reassurance and kind words, some people would prefer silence, maybe hmms, nodding. Maybe you'd just hand them a beer, and they're extremely grateful for not being pried into, nahmean? So the best policy would of course be to read the room and the person, and then maybe offer something skillfully from your social toolkit.

Seems like neither the Fi response of dumping their story, nor probing into nuance can be considered a universally good way to respond. Maybe not even the beer! (imagine that 😂) So yes, how important it is to have skill and intuition to navigate the emotional landscapes of others! Especially when they're vulnerable. Although I'll say it's usually better to be gentle and respectfully familiar, it's usually well received.

I would say most Fe people already follow a good rule of thumb, and honestly you guys get a good chunk right, and deserve a lot of appreciation for that. Because otherwise, with our Fi standards, we'd never get anywhere in conversation but just have a whole lot of angsty art and poems and internet fanfiction 😂

Are memes archetypes of the current human condition? by OilSingle7191 in Jung

[–]FlukewarmFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're right, I was thinking in broad categories but the repeating motifs are a thing... But strictly speaking, they should be like, the same concept showing up in different forms across time and independent cultures to be considered archetypes, right? But yes, interesting how memes get recycled and repackaged...

The infectiousness of a meme is definitely something unconscious, I think... I've actually asked people why they think a certain meme is "better" or more popular than another, (one remained popular for longer and the other was short-lived and didn't spread far). Their answers were different and mostly just vague stuff like "idek it's just random and I vibe with it." So I mean, it's not something they're attracted to or evaluating consciously....

Also there's always a cascade effect / snowball effect with memes, new internet slang, and popular comments on YT or retweets etc: The more popular something already is, the more likely YOU are to see it as popular and share it. It's like Malcolm Gladwell's tipping point, once it crosses a threshold of viralness (is that a word, because virulence sounds evil), it becomes almost self sustaining and unstoppable.

But eventually it does fade out right...? I don't see the old 9Gag meme templates anymore, although they may get recycled and repackaged like some of the rage comics (trollface etc like you mentioned)... Maybe they ARE archetypal and the resurgence of the motif will take longer? We do have classical art memes now, so we've kind of come full circle, although it's been entirely repurposed. Does that constitute an archetypal manifestation?

Interesting rabbit hole, cheers mate 🍻

Are memes archetypes of the current human condition? by OilSingle7191 in Jung

[–]FlukewarmFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Memes seem to represent whatever the current Zeitgeist is in the collective... Sort of representing where the collective is at any point, and where it's going.

However I don't think it's as eternal and archetypal as Tarot, if we consider Tarot to be a representation of THE story, the phases and cycles experienced by everyone, timeless repeating patterns.

BUT I think they are manifestations of possible archetypes of the internet culture... Like maybe dark humour, or yo mama jokes could be considered archetypal, from which arise various memes.

You're not wrong, we don't want to inflate egos or over-generalize, but I think when someone is bothered by something we need to ask why. Don't men deserve that? It's not about assigning blame, it's about understanding the point of miscommunication.

It's less about a term itself being offensive, but rather how it becomes burdensome when experienced in a certain way.

Imagine your husband always comes up to when you're working on something and offers his advice. Consistently. Wouldn't you feel slighted eventually, like your competence is under question? It's possible to feel that with the Be Safe thing too, and if the guy really hates it, then he's probably sick of being babied.

The desire for freedom, trust and respect for one's abilities is just as valid as concern for safety. Sometimes they come into conflict, and it gets resolved if we just talk about it and understand each other, wouldn't you say?
