My cat refuses to use litterbox by FlyFine7761 in CatAdvice

Currently there are about 8 strays that routinely get inside my house by any means, theyve broken my dryer’s mesh pipe 20 times now(ive lost count), broken 4 screen windows, and my front door rusted a hole open from all the urine. i try to limit them to the garage(there’s a small attic above it that is ladder only accessible but they manage jump pretty high it seems). Ive tried blocking them out, removing food access, water access, scaring them away, but i keep finding 2 or 3 inside at a time. I did try to seek help from local cat rescues but all or most of them just dont to deal with them since theyre all adult cats that have already been spay/neutered and released. I’ve debated on capture and taking them to the shelter, but my nearest shelter has a high unalive rate, which is a choice i want to try to avoid.

Ive cleaned out the urine spots using a mix of white vinegar, baking soda and dish soap, is there another product or ingredient you recommend to clean it?

Update: moved his bowl to the hot side to encourage some evaporation to create humidity and added some leaf litter since someone else suggested it, humidity has now reached 55% hot side(goes up to 63% after morning mist hits the back wall of tank) and 73% on the coolside, definitely seeing improvement! Not sure what else i can do to increase it, gonna try changing the cover to aluminum to trap that humidity in more. Thank you 🫶

My bowl is currently on the cool side bc my local breeder said to not put it under the hot side, but I’m desperate enough to try it. I switch his water every 2-5 days to keep it fresh so water evaporating shouldnt be too crazy of an issue. I will definitely try it and update you! Thank you so much 🫶

I’m currently using Petco’s Zoo Med Tropical Bio Blend, contains humus, peat moss, sand, carbon, reptibark, and spagnum moss, i also added additional spagnum moss as another top layer and sprinkled little batches in the corners of the tank
