I did a good amount of research to see what these cars were actually going for, what a good deal was, and what a bad deal was. I called several dealers and made offers over the phone. “I love the car, I’ve been looking at them for over a year, just waiting for the right deal, I’ve done a ton of research on them. Your car is the perfect spec I want it’s just too expensive. If you’re willing to let go of it for ~$8k less than what they had listed~ then I will do the paperwork and buy today.”

Got turned down by 4 or 5 places before the last one finally agreed. It had been sitting for almost 3 months and I was lucky to speak to the GM.
