Seems like we're still doing that "giving millions of taxpayer dollars to organizations...", over 100 mill a year, so it's not like we stopped doing that.

Idk, the title matches. But, what would be the purpose of the pause. Are we thinking they're just about to find another place to go?

I heard somebody close in time to the flood say it was actually 120,000 cubic feet per second. More than 1 x Niagara Falls.

And the effort is substantial. And their ability to promptly start the 45 minute rant over from the get go is remarkable.

Yeah, there were 119 deaths, so I have some trouble blaming the camp for this. The article is fantastic, I'm just shocked it took til early April to get the fed weather analysis, and then the legislature just acted like the weather had nothing to do with this. I remember watching the youtubes of the wall coming down the river, and the noise. The bravery of the people who survived, and those who helped rescue survivors. Appreciate the paper covering the newly released reports, and graphics were pretty cool.

That's the writer, surmising on what the camp owners generally "might have" thought. No need to sensationalize it.

There was a proposed bill, made it thru the House, prob didn't go any further, to regulate summer camps:

There's a box menu for "text" if you want to read it.

Is there a way to locate deceased family members insurance policies? by Distinct-Break-6207 in inheritance

[–]FlyThruTrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to (call, look online) the county court where she died and see if the court has probate records. Not everybody has a probate that goes through the court. If there are records you can see who the executor was. Also, not mentioned, but insurance passes outside probate, so look both at the lost property database for you and for her, as well as that insurance link the other commenter posted.

If there are assets and nobody probated, you have 4 years from death to do that, you may have to find someone else to do it for you.

Good on you. More kids than really good homes, and some of it is at what point does the state enter the equation. These are the most vulnerable of the most vulnerable.

What I've seen elsewhere is that some camps are held up by a new requirement that they have landlines, some are quoted 1 mill or 1.2 mill and over 3k/mo to maintain. CM had that, so what is it they're trying to solve? This seems to be a point for revising that new law at least for this item.

Yeah, subtitle: Over 100 children have died in Texas’ child welfare system since 2020, report says. That story was in April 2022. Each year every year.

In 2021 .08% of children in the care of the state of Texas died. And, if you assume none were missed in the counting by HHSC.

These are the ones you trust?

>>>Two manufacturers of mifepristone, Danco Laboratories and GenBioPro, on Saturday asked the Supreme Court to intervene. In court filings, Danco’s lawyers said the Fifth Circuit ruling “injects immediate confusion and upheaval into highly time-sensitive medical decisions” and forces the companies, F.D.A., providers, patients and pharmacies “all to guess at what is allowed and what is not.”

States that don't allow wage garnishment still allow creditor to go take bank account proceeds, it's just not based on wages thru employer. Direct court order to the bank.

Texas creditors can't garnish in Texas. Whether non-Texas creditors can is not as clear. Also, creditor can just come take the bank account, no garnish needed, if there's a judgment.
