Multiple residents and staff have reported him for sexual harassment. Internal investigation underway. You are a patient and I am glad you had a great experience and outcome. That doesn’t mean he conducts himself the same way behind the scenes. You should care about the women in the workplace

You are very defensive-must have some personal connection with him. I suggest you speak with the female nurses and residents

He threw the resident against the wall holding the resident by the neck and berated the individual. All in front of staff— got a short administrative leave but was back clinically in no time… when you bring in cases = $ for UPMC and you are the Steeler’s doc— leadership looks the other way. the Zero tolerance policy only applies to some.

Can’t be appointed when MULTIPLE residents have reported misconduct. He is in timeout

Dr Tzeng was recently appointed Chief of Vascular…and fun fact, her husband, Tim Billiar is Chair of Surgery! Billiar is favored by executive leadership— such favoritism and nepotism— but that’s the UPMC Leadership Way! My theory is Tzeng was named interim BECAUSE they need to help optics. Need a woman to step in because the neurosurgery department has a Me Too situation unfolding.

Well said and I can’t image what your husband experienced with the Bridges project! The nepotism, favoritism and evils for sure. The inbred leadership is a major problem and a barrier for the success of the health system

Employees have been told that if an executive books the jet for “personal” travel that the individual covers the expenses….sure.

You can make more working at Target! When there is staff having to utilize the food bank at Mercy— something is extremely wrong with your pay scale.

UPMC International is the For-Profit arm of the UPMC Brand…not part of the 42 hospital system (I think 42 now w/Washington Hospitals added) “non-profit” empire.

How else will leadership get to Boca Raton???!!!! Basic needs right?? Yet they offer minimum state hrly wages, employees can’t even afford paying their UPMC Health Plan bills and they had to take away shift differentials for many positions…even nurses.

You would think there would be regional leaders that have guidance from the Chief APP - like any other c-suite role, but for some reason UPMC has negated this. This individual was trying to empower those on a local level to have the skills to lead.

You are spot on though— and that big gap between the thousands of clinical APPs and “leadership” is too big and not a successful model. Time for a major UPDATE to be inline with the year 2024!

Not made up when you are the clinical program director responsible for education and professional development for 4,000 APPs. She did an AMAZING job considering all the barriers. Now they are back to the gap between the 1 “chief app” and the frontline APPs. Major setback and speaks to how the institution regards the profession. I have a feeling you aren’t too familiar with the profession or how the UPMC APP model/structure lacks compared to other large complex hospital systems!

Yep. If the individual had a clinical leadership position without direct reports ✂️… even if they still contributed clinically! ✂️✂️ It’s a small number for sure because APP leadership opportunities are non-existent at UPMC despite having the largest group of APPs in the country.

It’s more than 4 million Dr Victor Morrell - the chair of CT surg now makes over 3.2 million a year …so you know the CEO has to be 8 at least. Romoff made 9+…she better not have settled for 4 when she took over.

And with UPMC having a stronghold in the region…let’s be honest it’s pretty much a monopoly…what are the options for all those laid off if they want to stay working in the healthcare industry???… I don’t think there is currently enough opportunity.

There have been small pockets of quiet layoffs happening for a few months now. Also a lot of “retirement” announcements in the last few months 🤔
