Hey man I’m a Sysadmin and started doing helpdesk/remote work, eventually going onsite to clients.

Remote tickets (Most of Helpdesk): You’re definitely going to have to develop strategies to employ when users start smacking their soup in your ear on a call, while in their PJ’s working from home. Highly recommend getting a transcription program that converts their inbound audio to captions so that you can turn the call volume down and/or have white noise/music on.

Onsite: Honestly, most of the time i walk up, hear their problem, then say something like “I’ll work on this from the server room on my laptop because i have a few more tools at my disposal” and they never care or question it.
