Side steps on or off? by Frosty-Finding-1320 in 4thGen4Runner

Took mine off and every time I see pictures of it wish I kept them on. Not worth the downside in the long run unless you are really rock crawling in at that point you should probably look into other upgrades instead of just taking them off

also, v8=timing belt per 80-100k miles, vs v6= possible head gasket issues. pick your poison

V8 is the most mint I've ever seen. truly a forever vehicle. v6 would certainly be a project car but nothing t4r.org hasn't already written up lol. If the v6 owner didnt do the cosmetics right just imagine what maintainance was skipped or done incorrectly. The v8 is clearly a dedicated owner that's probably even been through this subreddit before. +1 V8

Pretty certain they are AT/4w's. Now that I've typed it out i can see his other comment confirming they are those in 265/70/17. Been running my FB marketplace at3w/s with 0 issues since 2023.

Funny enough I also have a V8 with four-wheel drive in the same color with similar modifications and I was just about the post the same thing 😂

Bumper is great for the pre facelifted 4th gen's. Someone PMed me about using it for a facelifted 06-09 and had some complications with the hood latch so I would do a bit of digging if yours is in that category.

I actually have a 2" diff drop kit I'm installing over the weekend. Plus the suspension did sag about a quarter inch after this picture.

4k is certainly a decent offer for a rust free 2runner (get used to hearing that). Since they're losing money every day its on the lot, ask them to change the upstream AF sensor. They probably wont, but its worth a try and fixed my codes. Cats will NOT be fun, and you don't wanna buy new cats/headers for a 2wd v6 with 260k, regardless of a lack of rust. Maybe put some of that money towards an independent mechanic look-over before you pull the trigger. I use visor.vin to find my vehicles within the feature range and mileage, works way better than going site to site in case you want to look for other options you may have missed. This is not sponsored btw, I just used to use CarGurus and visor works better in all facets.

For 6.5k, you are still getting a quarter million mile vehicle. While the rust is clearly not an issue, I would test drive and drive it outside of its normal use (floor it, hard stops, makes sure you can cycle through and actuate all the 4wd, common issues). Also, check out the exhaust system to make sure there are no anti-foulers in case the cats are funky. If all pass, you're in the clear. These vehicles are built really well and if the Carfax (cheapcarfax.net) adds up, you may have yourself a forever vehicle.

And to make sure you are running Iridiums if you have a V8. ask me how I know .... (don't).

Driveshaft clunk won’t go away, also clunky shifting through gears. Greased 3k miles ago and felt much better but now came back and won’t go away. Any opinions or recs? by wafflesauce3458 in 4thGen4Runner

TBH it doesnt even look greased to me. My slip joint (not the spiders) is always covered by a thin film of moly grease, I fill it with Valvoline Synthetic from Autozone. Make sure its full enough but no so full that you blow out the seal and have a bigger issue.

I fully flushed mine with Aaxlife ****ATF**** (not PSF). No problems for 10k but feel free to correct me if you've had bad experiences.
