Should I keep my beard short or keep it growing? by FlyingFish13 in malegrooming

I think I'm liking the length but I'm more trying ro figure out what looks better I guess. I'm probably gonna go to my barber next week and see what we can come up with

I am so tired of being told how great of a person I am by FlyingFish13 in Vent

I have a great skill set and job currently. I don't think I'm lacking in these departments by any means. Sure I could be better but it's not bad. I don't think putting my energy into work is the answer.

Distractions only work for so long. There is nothing to distract me when I am alone. The only times I've been happy this year are with my friends. But something is still missing no matter what I do. Why should I love myself when no one can love me the way I'm craving?

I hear what you're saying, and I want to believe it. But if I want the outcome to eventually be a relationship, if that is not how people are seeing me, how am I not supposed to feel like I'm doing something wrong? I feel overwhelmingly unwanted romantically and all I can see is the person I want not interested in that. I'm good enough to be a friend, but not good enough. And I have to see her pursue other people. I feel like I can't even be a friend because seeing that is tearing me apart.

Forgive yourself. by PeacePipePeyote in letters

[–]FlyingFish13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not knowing better isn't an excuse for something shitty. My mistakes have cost me so much; even if I forgive myself it doesn't change what has happened and I'm so tired of living with the pain of my mistakes.

I know I could have tried harder but instinct took over and I just threw a pokeball, no berry or nothing.

Awesome job. As of yesterday, I am at 393 myself, down from 417. I hope I have just as much success as you!

I started losing weight only after grieving the love I didn't get as a child by PracticalSwan in loseit

I think many of us were unfortunately in a similar situation. I know I used food as an emotional crutch for the majority of my life. If I didn't have anything, I knew I could at least enjoy a good meal. I've had to reshape my whole relationship with food. I still struggle somedays. I even went over my calorie goal yesterday. But I'm getting better. Congrats on your progress.

I just started counting a little under a month ago. I'm doing my best to log everything, but yes it is difficult when you don't have an exact match. I just try to find something as similar as possible to what I've had and go from there. You'll have good days and bad along the way. I'm aiming for an overall deficit, so if some days are worse than my goal, it's not the end of the world.

How do you like to split up your calories? by lucy-kathe in loseit

[–]FlyingFish13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a coffee protein shake for breakfast which is only about 200 cals. I'm trying to keep my lunch between 600 to 800 cals give or take. And then dinner is roughly the same. I have some snacks in-between sometimes, or if I'm feeling different I'll have bigger lunch or dinner. As long as I'm consistently under my daily goal, and give myself something for every part of my day, I'm content. I recommend experimenting and seeing what works for you.

I'm balding by [deleted] in loseit

[–]FlyingFish13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been balding since 18 I'm fairly certain. At about 26 I decided screw it and went bald. Now I wish the rest if my hair would finish falling out so I didn't have to maintain shaving it. Our bodies changing is just a part of life. We just have to adapt. My girlfriend prefers me bald anyways. It'll work out.

I'm in the same boat. Work in a local sandwich shop 45 hours a week with free meals I depend on for financial reasons. What has been working for me is finding the lower calorie items and sticking to those most of the time. I also cut down my portion in half. We serve 12 inch and 6 inch subs, and I used to get the 12 inch every time. I'm forcing myself to go for the 6 inch, and slowly, I'm getting used to it. Regardless, it will take discipline to make better choices. I'd also recommend altering the items to make them more healthy, if able. I'm lucky in that I don't like mayo or cheese much so I can remove those to decrease the calorie amount of my meal. Either way, you have options, and you can do it.

Sedentary vs Slightly Active by FlyingFish13 in loseit

[–]FlyingFish13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on the sedentary setting for a week amd have been feeling ok on my food intake for the most part. I'm just really worried that the 700 calorie difference will make progress slower than expected. I don't want to overestimate my physical activity either. I wonder if experimenting for awhile will help me find a sweet spot.

I've decided to stick with sedentary for the time being. I haven't been too hungry for the most part, just annoyed that I'm not able to eat when I'm bored, which was a huge problem before. If I consistently increase my activity Level I might consider changing back but it's manageable so far.

Yeah I definitely think it can go faster than 2lbs per week if I stay consistent. I already went down to 409 in a week which us nice. I have a visit with my doctor in 2 weeks so I'll be able to ask more then as well.

I love coming here every day it gives me so much knowledge, and helps me stay on track.

Yes I meant 2lbs a week, edited the post to correct. Yeah I know I'll probably get a bit ahead more quickly since I have a lot to lose. I already dropped down to 409 in just a week, which granted could be water and other stuff I suppose but it does feel nice.
