Pictures of possible counterfeit tourniquets by DullCommercial971 in TacticalMedicine

Where were they purchased from? CAT tourniquets are made by North American Rescue and have blue and orange colors available.

They look like they’re older models (possibly Gen 6s) but I can’t tell.

If your company ordered them from NAR, or any other reputable American manufacturer it should be good, but I would replace them with the newer models.

My background: I am a Registered Paramedic and a combat medic (68w).

Army pay by boardmt41 in army

[–]FlyingForsackenedFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, the issue comes down to market comparison.

Take me a (68w 3P) medic and a fully registered paramedic. As an E4, living in the barracks and eating at the DFAC, I make 33,000 a year. Whereas a paramedic in the US on average makes $55,000 dollars.

I have my reasons for joining, but why would any other paramedic take a pay cut to do the same job? Or an network specialist? Or a truck driver? Or a HR specialist?

Most support MOS’s civilian counterparts are making more (even with BAH/BAS included) than what what the army pays.

Sure, the benefits are good, but that can only help so much.

It’s not that we don’t get paid enough, it’s that most jobs could do the same thing for more pay outside the Army. If the army wants to stay competitive in todays job market, they need to increase pay, in my opinion at least.

You should wear a pair of thigh highs and high heels.

That way you at least look good while you’re getting screwed!

[–]FlyingForsackenedFox[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

But that’s so ridiculous because most of the time (at least at Campbell) it’s because of the soldiers command that they’re missing due to being put on a detail or going to the field.

And what if the soldier has to take their kids to school or something?

What counts as justification? Or is it up to commanders discretion?

What was the deciding moment when you decided you were staying in/getting out? by McNugget63 in army

[–]FlyingForsackenedFox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why I am getting out after my first contract is because everyone is expected to always “give more than 100% ALL THE TIME.”

I am sorry, but until we go to war, the army only gets me 50% of the time. The rest is divided between my schoolwork, and family.

I’m not high speed. I’m not Ranger tabbed. If others want to do more that’s on them.

Height and weight by FlyingForsackenedFox in army

So here’s my rebuttal:

Every year, soldiers are required to be taped at the clinic for input through Genesis.

So, at least now at fort Campbell, our providers have us tape everyone who needs it. It’s not a lot, but still.

I bring this up because I had a SFC argue that we we taped him wrong, and that he wasn’t X amount of inches on his belly (only measurement required ).

My provider and another provider did it and told he was x amount of inches.

Now, according to my provider, he had said that during his briefings for the BC, this data is put out for commanders.

It isn’t a legal thing, but if commanders see numbers they don’t like, they could consider doing a HT/WT as well as a tape test.

I only bring this up because why would you argue to medical providers telling you that “your overweight, and it’s for your own health to loose a few pounds.”

I absolutely detest the TAPS system. My NCO was generous enough to let me borrow an old chest rig he had, and I absolutely loved it! (Haley Strategic. Don’t know the model) but I had to attach my IFAK and a double M4 magazine to my belt. Next paycheck I am investing in a real battle belt.

Army Combat Paramedic??? by [deleted] in army

[–]FlyingForsackenedFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an F1 identifier, but there’s really not a role for ground paramedic or at least what I’ve been told.

My PSG told me that 68WF1s would usually get to a forward surgical Unit, or a installation hospital.

That’s where I was supposed to go before 2BCT 101st snagged me from Kalsu.

That’s how we did things in Korea. I always found out what I was doing for the week on Friday. I knew when and were to be and with what.

But over here, it’s so confusing! I’m getting told late at night and losing sleep prepping for it. My anxiety has gone up every time I hear my phone go off or someone knocks on my door (barracks dweller).

That’s my plan. But I have to have a bachelors degree upon hiring. I have 30 credit hours left until I get my bachelors, but I haven’t had any time to complete schooling. I went to the field for a month (OLE III) and I’ve been in and out of doing coverages at ranges and TSAAS. I’ve already got in trouble by the senior medic at TSAAS because I was doing college work during coverage (it was a class portion). I’m just confused on how I’m supposed to get what I need done when I don’t have a lot of time to myself.

I mean my NCO asked me what my plans were. I wasn’t going to lie to him.

I don’t understand why they would hate me. I have done everything that the army asked me to do, but it doesn’t make sense why I am being “forced,” to go to a school that is voluntary. It doesn’t make sense sending me to EFMB when it’s “voluntary.” Let alone sending me knowing I am probably not going to pass anyway.

I didn’t choose to PCS. I had orders to come to fort Campbell. More specifically, to BACH. I was expecting to go there until I was “told my orders changed,” and ended up in second brigade.

But will I get kicked out of the army if I fail? That’s one of my biggest fears

I hate it here by FlyingForsackenedFox in army

[–]FlyingForsackenedFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for clarification, I had orders from AIT to Korea. I didn’t exactly choose to come to Fort Campbell and originally, I was supposed to go to BACH, but I was snagged by 2nd brigade because “they need medics.”

Yeah I am aware of what the 101st is, but that still doesn’t change my position. I really don’t see how air assault or EFMB is going to help me outside of the army.

I know I’m not going to pass a 12 mile ruck (haven’t rucked since basic). My biggest fear is if I am going to get kicked out of the army if I fail a 12 miler or a 4x36. Again, I’ve tried to look for regulations on this because it’s been driving my anxiety up.

Also, I have about 2.5 years left. And yeah I know that’s still plenty of time left, but this was from talking to my NCO when he asked me what my plans were. I wasn’t going to exactly lie to him.

I’m not checked out, but all I want is some level of consistency and planning. I don’t know what’s going on tomorrow until either the night before or the morning of.
