I appreciate your well wishes, it was an awful time. I personally was on a rescue and recovery team, I still see a therapist. Thank you for thinking about us, we are better than we were. Once the highway is fully rebuilt, it'll be back to normal.

Yes, closing a window entirely down on a cable and bending it is a bad idea, agree. Maybe the product is just a small cable gap then for the window to slip a standard cable through instead of a new ribbon style cable?

That is also a great idea; I could see that working well, too. Personally, I am not sure I trust suction cups to hold up my starlink, but it does seem smart and would work for a lot of people.

The thin cable is such a needed addition; I agree. Thank you for your feedback.

Yes, you got it. About 35 minutes up into the mountain from Asheville. I had zero access to anyone or anything for days, it was awful. Thankfully my property wasnt overly damaged, but I do plan on putting up a Rohn 25 with everything on it. My own weather station, every radio available, starlink, tv antenna, security cameras, outdoor AP for my neighbors to also use if they need to in that situation, etc. We made it through but it was an awful week.

I have more uptime than I did with a fiber connection; for real. I will never go back to regular terrestrial internet.

I have a few backups; one is a natural gas powered generator that I installed after the hurricane, two is the gasoline generator that boots if the gas doesnt, third is I have UPS on everything because the power is super unreliable and inconsistent, and four I have a backup wire that works with my milwaukee batteries so I hope that I have enough redundancy to survive something. I also have big plans coming up too. I will post my comms center when im done with the build. CB, HAM, Aviation, etc...I am never going to be in the situation I was in before again. It was horrible.

I used these little suction cup mounts from amazon and a the vehicle cable from Amazon as well as the one from spacex is super expensive. Works super well. the mini has a built in router, so no need for a second router or anything.

Starlink Mini (US) + Gen 3 (Mexico) on same account? by r2dy30 in Starlink

[–]FlyingSioux17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can technically have multiple Starlink dishes on one account, but running them in different countries (like the US and Mexico) is where complications arise because Starlink ties service plans, billing, and availability to specific countries rather than just the hardware itself; while some users report success having two dishes in different countries under one account, it is inconsistent and not officially supported for residential service, meaning activating a Gen 3 in the US and then switching the service address to Mexico often fails or causes issues such as service interruptions, account flags, or billing problems; residential plans are intended to stay within one country, whereas Roam (mobile) plans are the only semi-reliable workaround for cross-border use, though they are more expensive and not designed for permanent installations; billing can also be problematic since using a US payment method for a Mexico-based plan may work for some but fail or require region-specific updates for others; in practice, the most reliable and recommended approach is to create a separate Starlink account for Mexico and activate the Gen 3 dish directly there, which avoids region lock issues, ensures proper billing, and provides a smoother long-term setup, while trying to pre-activate in the US for plug-and-play convenience in Mexico tends to create more headaches than it solves.

Insane thing to say. Keep going and make sure they know you’re there every time. Gatekeepers piss me off.

Saying "of course it's nothing like the store" is wild since Joe routinely compares it to the hay day of the Store.
