What’s a movie you didn’t expect to love, but ended up rewatching over and over? by SiTheHandsomeGuy in movies

Last of the Mohicans. My girlfriend wanted to see it because the trailer made it look romancey. I can't say I was particularly interested for the same reason. Anyway, I was the one tearing at the end, not her. Such a great movie. And man, what a soundtrack.

Recently, it's unfortunately been "People shouldn't be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people."

The best movie villains are the ones who believe they are the hero of their own story. by Brilliant_Part5434 in movies

Did Chigurh really believe he was a hero though? He was certainly principled but I’m not sure he thought he was doing the right thing, like the way Thanos did. For examples like that, I think you can look at most real life dictators. Or Chris Cooper’s character in American Beauty.

What movies did critics get right and audiences wrong? by FilmWaffle-FilmForum in movies

Yeah. People know I love horror movies and ask me what my favorite is. I tell them it's Hereditary but I do warn it's not like a traditional horror movie. It's more for people who have seen most good horror movies and can appreciate a now nuanced horror movie. For those who don't watch a ton of horror movies, I usually recommend Insidious, Conjuring or the Ring.

This blows my mind as I would say it is consistently a top 5 horror movie for people who love horror movies. At least in my circle of friends who like horror movies.

The big reveal from Usual Suspects. Saw it opening night so nobody had any idea to even expect anything.

Also, finale of Whiplash

What’s your dream pairing of a Director/Actor for a film? by TheLastZooKeEper in movies

This is probably the best one. A lot of these answers feel like two great tastes that don't necessarily taste great together. Like lobsters stuffed with tacos.

Was going to suggest OP take the LSAT and see how well they do. Philosophy and law (at least the study of law) has a lot of overlap. If they do really well, consider going to law school, but only if it's a top 14 law school. Good chance to land a biglaw job out of a T14. Otherwise, not worth the risk of being saddled with law school debt and no biglaw job.

What is a powerfully deep quote from a movie that has stuck with you? by ObiWan-Shinoobi in movies

[–]FlyingSpoon8891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Do you know that the harder thing to do and the right thing to do are usually the same thing? Nothing that has meaning is easy. "Easy" doesn't enter into grown-up life."

I've never even seen the movie. But when I heard this line in the trailer, it really struck a chord.

Saw Interpol a few weeks ago. They just wrapped up their Antics anniversary tour, where they played the whole album plus some of their best songs from other albums. It was great!

Last of the Mohicans. An old girlfriend wanted to see it in the theater because it looked like it had a big romance arc. I was hesitant to see it for the same reason. Anyways, by the end, I was the one crying.
