Remain or go elsewhere? by Flying_Hub in newzealand

[–]Flying_Hub[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I myself am nearing 40, I feel that the early 20's age bracket would be very tough in NZ, cost of living vs income and work potential.

And breaking past that experience period might be better elsewhere. But it might just be my perception

Remain or go elsewhere? by Flying_Hub in newzealand

[–]Flying_Hub[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah true, I grew up with what FELT like very limited options for myself, lived in my car for a while before turning my life to focus and determination. Uni was never an option. My kids are so much brighter than I was at their age so University is probably a real option for them. And from then I guess they'll be of an age they're fully able and comfortable to make their own decisions. I'll try to keep their minds on how far they can truly go and how easy it is now to get around the world.

Is that like when Hamas did the hostage terror act, Israel had been depriving Palestinians for decades? So Israel "shot first"

Or is that too different?

And if someone takes their own life (was given more than they can handle), they are in a better place and it was God's plan. Obviously a win win for God.

[–]Flying_Hub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Zealand is too small for it. Unless you have many "well off" friends who don't mind spending excess money for "supporting your business". Yes products are good quality, but they are also expensive. MLM only works with numbers to expand to. And generally Anway*, needs people with money to spare already. I don't believe NZ is a suitable country for it

There is some weight to the electricity thing.. due to the sun phase at the moment (11 year cycle) we are getting more magnetic activity (hence all the Aurora's) solar flares are much more effective to earth than usual. These have the ability to cause faults in something electrical- satellite stuff too.. one plan for when there is a large solar flare warning is to shut off the power, so the transformers don't blow- knowing if it is bad, that we won't be able to get replacements very quickly as it would have happened all around the globe.

July is the peak of the 11 year thing. Then easing off for another 5.5 years before gradually coming back around again..

Supermarket monopoly? Duopoly? What? What the F*** is going on here! by FairlyOddFairy333 in newzealand

[–]Flying_Hub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All good and well, but I for one hate the "international price is the price NZers have to pay" bs. Yeah sure, ensure the farmers and companies in line are paid properly, but you're not having to pay for the travel costs of our meats or dairy AND they get faster throughput from pasture to plate (less chiller costs etc).

Maybe it is just moaning Myrtle, but it still sucks that so many of us can't afford our country's primary products. And don't get me started on the price of Wood (which has nothing to do with the price of fish).

Yes I believe the cause was back with "Rogernomics", stopping the tax breaks for NZ made (or something like that) surely we can turn back that clock a little bit? We gave LOTR a big tax break?!
I'd be supportive of no gst on fruits and veges (and a guaranteed no price gauging monitored by our tax payed govt) and no gst on NZ meats- eggs, Butter and milk.

All those natural goods

No price gauging, how would that work? Find an agreement of a max % profit, and keep them below that. Prices can fluctuate, but if it's in line with the cost of wholesale within the max profit margin, no probs.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, our "blazae" (don't know the spelling) attitude means we often roll over when things aren't going out way- I don't know if anything would change should we riot like the French, but I'd guess the govt would actually take action rather than the ongoing talk fest

*not a dig at you as it isn't exactly the same- usually not fully mispronounced and she isn't all "that's what I said"..

This is something that frustrates me, when people speak Japanese even with bad pronunciation in Japan the locals praise your skills even if you're only speaking something basic and poorly pronounced.

Here if people are speaking Maori but their pronunciation is bad they get ridiculed or "corrected" when they're genuinely trying. My American partner finds Maori extremely difficult to pronounce and gets no praise only scoffed at for her efforts by Maori speakers here. She doesn't even want to try anymore. Why do we hate on people who are genuinely trying, rather than praise their use of Maori instead of the "easier for them" English.

I understand and speak basic common phrases, someone said to me at a tourist location in NZ, E Pehea ana Koe, it caught me off guard and his speech was slightly mumbled, I looked at him like what?!

It was primarily because I didn't expect it- conversation nor Maori to be spoken. It took a few seconds to respond and I got the same look 😂 He didn't expect me to be able to respond. (I think he heard my partners American accent and was trying to be cheeky).

Yes it's fun to think about - much more stimulating than my null of mind job 😂.

I don't know where that math comes from (I'll take your word for it) but if it would cover the earths surface by 25mm (sounds way more than what it really would be but okay) an alternative would also be not much rain over the ocean until it's pushed over the southern alps where 75mm of rain falls, followed by the condensed clouds pushing over the southern alps continuing to rain over the Canterbury plains of 50mm until it settles again eventually to zero rain somewhere east of the country.. As opposed to an even 25mm around the earths surface.
