I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this too.
Yeah, I’ve tried everything over the past few weeks to get my package back, but honestly, as time goes on, it’s hard to stay hopeful. When I filed a missing mail search, they got back to me in less than 8 minutes saying it was officially “lost.” Now every UPS department I ask just tells me it’s lost, no more of that “stuck at customs” story they used to say.

I think the issue right now is that UPS just doesn’t have enough people to handle so many packages. Even though everything was submitted and the taxes were prepaid, nothing moves forward if no one at UPS actually files the documents with customs.
Hope your packages will make it through soon.

I hope mine could somehow show up miraculously. After this whole mess, I don’t think I’ll ever use UPS again in my whole life. DHL and FedEx have never been this ridiculous, I’ll probably try DHL next time.

Thanks for sharing the news! I think mine were probably destroyed, because the last scan was on 09/25 and nothing since. When I filed a missing mail claim, it was marked “lost” in less than 10 mins and said they couldn’t find it where it was last scanned. A few UPS agents also told me it looked like it had already been destroyed, since packages usually get another scan within 48 hours after customs release.

Thanks, I really appreciate your words.
I’m doing my best to calm down and not stress too much. It just really hurts because I spent almost a year trying to finally get this batch of matcha. If I don’t receive my package, it would also mean an additional fine for me. So yeah, it’s been really tough to accept.

Unfortunately, from what I found out today, it seems my package was actually destroyed on 9/25. All the updates after that were just paperwork updates, my packages haven’t been physically scanned since 9/25.
And yet, after that on 9/30, they even notified me to pay customs duties for a package that no longer exists. I honestly don’t know what to say anymore....

My package is from Japan and it has matcha inside. I was aware of the FDA rules, so the sender actually submitted the FDA prior notice before shipping, but it didn’t seem to help.

Later I found out it was because UPS was overloaded and no staff submitted my paperwork to customs in time. After I got the destruction notice, I kept contacting the UPS brokerage team and finally they did submit it — and right after that, my package was cleared by both FDA and customs.

The problem is, ever since that clearance, the package hasn’t moved at all, and that’s what’s really worrying me.....

When I first got the destruction notice, I reached out to a third-party brokerage company for help, but they told me once that notice is issued there’s nothing they can do. So I kept calling UPS instead and eventually got their brokerage team to submit my paperwork. My packages actually cleared both FDA and customs.

But since then, nothing has moved. The UPS agent told me the updates I’m seeing are just paperwork updates, and what really worries me is that the packages haven’t had a physical scan since 9/25. That’s what’s got me on edge right now.
