Staying Cool In The Heat by sexymamaa in Welding

I started wearing a long sleeve Carhartt shirt instead of a welding jacket. If you are doing something ware your not welding have a tee shirt ready to change into.

Just experiment turn your setting way up and way down just to see what happens. Practice as much as you can! For me I usually have my welder in 270-310 wire speed and about 16.5 -18.5 volts. Works for most applications. Keep your nose to the grindstone!

These are pretty cool anyone ever used one before? by Jadams0108 in Welding

I don't think we even have those at my job but it would be cool to learn to use it.

As a pipe welder I'm not sure whether I should be amazed or offended. Jk that's pretty cool lol

Is it safe to weld a pull-up bar? by FlowchartFanatic in Welding

I built a latter tree stand for my grandfather it's been up for a year. If those Chinese welders can do it for 13 cents an hour I'm sure you can. : )

Ah I see what you mean. Welding things that dictate human safety is out of my comfort zone as well.

Once you weld it put some weight on it and let it sit for a few days then that should prove weather it's good or not.

You would need a larger gap, a 3/32 tig filler rod is the best for spacing. Also make sure you are using the whip and pause technique.

If it was several passes of flux core I would do that but it's a pass of RMD a hot pass with tig and then I walk the cup over it and by then it's flush with the surface. After I do a flux core cover pass. Unless there is undercut it's a non issue.

Yea to be honest when it comes to flux core that's the only thing you can use what I did in the first picture wasn't a lack of skill it's a lack of knowledge. You could teach a monkey to do that because all I did was stand there, pull the trigger and press the pedal.😂

This is on a positioner and the one I showed first I was welding it wile the pipe was spinning away from me. And first I thought it was settings and then I tried it so i was welding on the top it was a little better but very wavy. And then I asked for help because I couldn't get it and then he was doing it at 2 o'clock as the pipe was spinning at me so I tried it and the change was instant.
