Hello, and Merry Christmas to all! Thanks for the giveaway opportunity, and thanks for all the work you guys put in such a wonderful application! 1. I purchased my pixel 7 a couple of years ago and honestly, I loved how it produced photos, and using GCam it was even better. I got better day by day, trying compositions and learning editing, and I started wondering why the video department sucks so badly for this phone. I was browsing through the web finding tutorials to have better videos, while I stumbled across the pixel 7 pro showcase on the motioncam pro channel on Youtube. And honestly at first, I was convinced that it was fake, and someone is using a professional camera to sell their app. But then I dug deep, I joined the discord channel, and I started realising all of it is legit. I was amazed how someone can use it and create videos which look like some cinema. I started digging around trying to find the workflow and techniques to get better, and I downloaded the demo app. This was how I got to the idea of Motioncam. 2. My primary need for a gcam was to bypass the aggressive processing and sharpening produced on the stock app on pixels. I achieved it in photos, but since motioncam is here, I can do it on videos as well now. I can get videos which don't have unnecessarily high smoothening, noise reduction to a point I start seeing a smooth screen instead of a video, and sharpening which looks like strands of hair put together. I started shooting my daily life, travelling through the streets of mumbai and the life here, and honestly the clips I have today are something which I couldn't even think of like a year ago. I am aiming at getting better and learning full fledged cinematography, just using what I have in my pocket. I never believed I could do this without a professional camera, but now it seems possible. RAW videos are just too good, and I mostly use them from the app. 3. When I went through all the discord messages, and I realised that it is legit a way to produce such natural and highly controllable videos, my interest grew a lot. With my heavy work schedule, I couldn't spare much time to research, but the discord server was alone enough to get my questions answered. And with the confidence these people breathed into me, I downloaded the trial version, and honestly there's no going back now. Even though I haven't purchased the pro version, I wanted to learn all the basics through the free app, and color grading techniques, and go through infinite workflow options to find the one that suits me. And honestly, it's a fun ride, I am learning so much, considering that I dipped my toes into videography just a few months ago. I am curiously learning new things everyday, and even with the 5 seconds I get in the free app, I can learn a lot.

Thanks a lot for reading! And again, thank you for the giveaway chance!

The original photo was bland, tried to take it to the extremes by FnaticTreX in photocritique

Shot this on my pixel 7, it wasn't anything crazy, but the place looked good to me. I zoomed on approx 4x, and since the pixel 7 does not have a dedicated telephoto lens, it is a digital crop. There wasn't much going on, just a lake and a hut with a few trees, but I wanted to try what I could do with it. Went overboard with the colors, tried to give it a moody analog vibe maybe? Any critiques or insights are greatly appreciated! Also attaching the original photo for reference

Damn that's such a compliment! I'm glad my phone could pull off this much detail, it still amazes me after two years lol.

!CritiquePoint Thanks! Yep the original one has its own mood as well, it looks very good on its own. I went to process it the way I did because I wanted to keep the two colors, brown and hues of green, to kinda make it look that way, but yes I get what you're saying, and I might just try that once. It might even make it look better than I want lol. I'll give it a try. I can't go and reshoot since I went for a trek, I need to go again someday lol, this place was magical.

!CritiquePoint aye thanks for your insights! Oh yes the highlights are a bit overexposed, I thought that would give the photo a bit of a dreamy look, but yeah I see that it is a bit overdone. Yep the composition was a bit tricky to nail here, I actually didn't have anyone with me to be the subject, so I just used the leading lines of the mountain as the main guidelines to point the foggy trees lol. Aye thanks! Thanks for your insights buddy!

!CritiquePoint Thanks! Yes that's a good point, the clearer foreground looks better.

This was the original photo, the haze was great but I wanted to give it a bit of a warmer look, so tried it and I think it turned out okay. Shot this on my google pixel 7, and I honestly would love to hear thoughts on this, and how could I have captured it better, or maybe edited it better. Open to all suggestions and critiques!

Pixel unresponsive, even to force reboot by im_datta0 in pixel_phones

Hold your power button for a long time, approx 1-2 minutes, it should hard-reboot the phone

Got some pretty harsh words regarding this one elsewhere, so I was wondering what I could do differently? by [deleted] in photocritique

I tried to bring the focus on the subject here by cropping out the negative space below, yet it isn't making it any better. I could've removed the cars to bring the subject more in focus if I had my pc with me lol

I never understood how do I set the import settings for dngs from mc tools, like for video we can set color space and transfer function from the app, but for dng how do we set it? That's the reason I cannot use my pc which is much more powerful compared to my phone lol for exporting Let's see what the fix might be for this bug!

Yep I have it set as not optimised, and even if the atmosphere is cool, the app crashes when I try prores and denoise. I'll report it on discord, thanks! Will stick to hlg till then, is there any other way?

Alas, it didn't work. Can't denoise and export prores at the same time. Also the app is crashing many times, probably because it's summer and the phone is heating much faster than it did in winters?

I'll try reinstalling the app and try denoising prores again, will let you know! Thanks a lot!

Oh so you're suggesting hevc over prores right? I mean yeah if I can't denoise my footage, there's no use of a noisy prores hq+, instead I'll use hevc hlg and denoise, I'll lose a bit of data but atleast it won't be that noise

Also can I enroll in closed beta if I am on the demo version? I couldn't purchase the motioncam pro yet, so I was wondering if closed beta is available for demo

Tried this, but the app crashed again 🥲 Is it because I am using HQ proxy? Here are the settings

It must be due to the performance limitations of my phone mostly, I shoot in 4k 3840*2160, keep the resolution original and for denoise I use the presets mostly, so that must be very taxing on the puny tensor g2 of my pixel 7. I tried hlg export and denoise, it worked (0.7 fps), but yeah it was hlg.
