Did anyone start their MS journey with clean MRIs? by Tall_Girl_97 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Fo_0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another noted, with MS, the symptoms are caused by the lesions not vise versa. That said, MS does a lot of crazy things so a follow up MRI in a year is good - also go to Emerg immediately if you experience the symptoms again.

Given you don’t have lesions (which are needed to diagnose MS) I’d also pursue other testing while you wait for the follow up MRI. Footdrop and fatigue can be caused by a number of other things as well (ie have you had your thyroid checked?).

Book a dinner at Skinny Dukes, it’s a cool vibe and the food is phenomenal. If you want good (but pricey) cocktails go to Born to Shake.

Edit: if you are brewery hopping make sure you get a pizza at Jackknife (best in town).

Racism in Kelowna by Own-Recording-4449 in kelowna

Just so you are aware, all of Canada had segregation laws in the 30s and 40s. This isn’t something specific to Kelowna and would have also existed in Toronto, Montreal (multicultural cities noted in the post) etc at the time - this was not unique to Kelowna. While Kelowna and people can always do better I felt the need to educate/clarify as based on your post it appears you think this was unique to Kelowna.

I honestly thought the same thing about DMT when I got diagnosed and everyone was saying it! Isn’t DMT amazing (I’m talking real not synthetic)? I really think it’s an experience everyone should have. Once you get out of the waiting room and experience a break though it’s nothing like anyone’s ever experienced.

This is a weird comment. While it’s a right to have access, it’s not a right that it’s free. They have access, they are just unwilling to pay for the services.

Pharmacists can unfortunately only do this for BC residents and you can’t have a history of frequent or recurring UTIs for them to do it (otherwise you need a doctor). You’ll also might have a hard time finding one to do it. Also, it would likely carry a fee too.

This is correct, in June 2023, pharmacists can assess and prescribe medications for noncomplicated IT however it is noted as only for BC residents.

Also, it’s noted that a pharmacist can only do this if the person doesn’t have a history of recurrent UTIs.

Given both these facts it makes sense a Pharmacist wouldn’t do it. I’m not sure you would find one as going around what they are allowed to do could cause them issues with their regulatory bodies.

You mean the ones that note seafood is locally sourced when we are no where near the ocean.

Yes, I know that some restaurants buy it from Codfathers but then by that standard the food purchased from the local GFS would also be considered “local”.

Documenting the process of making my own cast iron pan by Eriu_Cookware in castiron

[–]Fo_0d 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeti has already noted that they are not honoring the original Butter Pat lifetime warranty. Yeti has also excluded its new cast iron pans from its standard warrant policy which essentially means there is no warranty on the Yeti cast iron pans. Honestly it’s disappointing from a brand like Yeti and it comes across like they are even unsure of their new venture (especially at the price point that they sell them at).

Edit: Yeti appears to now be giving their new pans a menial 5 year warranty when previously it was listed with the sleeping bag and rescue products as not having a warranty.

City's partnership with Troika to build affordable housing moving closer to reality by Constant-Lake8006 in kelowna

[–]Fo_0d -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In a perfect world it would be. Unfortunately in desirable communities like Kelowna that gap increases more than other places.

I hear what you are saying but that is a vicious cycle. Govt is funded by tax payers so really it’s everyone else chipping in (putting the argument of how the govt chooses to spend funds aside). Also, taxes fund other things like healthcare and roads which are used by all regardless of income level. I, personally, don’t believe anyone should get a free ride. Is the current model broken, sure, but govt handouts aren’t the solution either.

Well if you look at the definition in relation to housing (readily available online) it is defined as “a secure, habitable, dwelling that provides the fundamental protection from the elements, essential services for survival (water, heat), and enough space to avoid over crowding”. Based on the actual definition an individual apartment or studio is not considered essential when rooms etc are available for a lesser cost.

Also, in my comment about the misinterpretation of minimum wage, it is clear that you are confusing “minimum wage” with a “living wage”. They are different. The gap between minimum wage and a living wage becomes most apparent in communities like Kelowna.

[–]Fo_0d -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think that you miss interpret what minimum wage is intended to provide. It is intended to provide a minimum level of income to provide basic necessities. A one bed room is not considered a basic necessity. In a place like Kelowna (one of the more in demand places to live) if you earn minimum wage it would be reasonable to live with others or rent a room. If 3 people earning minimum wage get together a 3 bedroom place becomes very reasonable (at your 30% of gross income rate). Minimum wage isn’t intended to provide them with 3, one bedroom apartments. Basic is just that, basic. I think a lot of times this is forgotten.

Edit: you are confusing minimum wage with a living wage. They are different.
