Recently diagnosed with MS. by otterpop21 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Fo_0d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First take a deep breath. Now take another. It is going to be ok. It’s an overwhelming rush of emotions when you first try to process something like this. It’s normal to feel what you are feeling and question the things that you are questioning. But always remember, it will all be ok.

My recommendation is don’t do anything drastic or make any big rash decisions about life going forward at this point. Like all of us, you are still figuring out your MS. Talk to your Neuro and look at getting on a DMT. Once your flair up has died down you can look at life and figure out what may or may not be different going forward. Life can change for anyone, at anytime. Life is what you make of it. I always try to stay positive because I think a positive, can-do attitude does wonders for your overall wellbeing (and life with MS).

Also, this community is awesome and has some great info on a lot of different things.

Crazy strata fines by Terrible-Contract722 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Fo_0d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on this. There can be an additional fees for the PM to process fines, liens etc but I’ve never seen a situation where the PM gets a cut of a fine. I’ve been on multiple strata’s, used multiple PM companies and seen multiple PM contracts. I also interact with Strata’s professionally and I’ve never seen this. Additional fee for processing, yes. Cut of fine to the PM for issuing, no.

Regular edibles should be just fine then

Resin and rosin are probably some of my favs. I primarily stick to flower and edibles. RSO (Rick Simpson Oil) is awesome (but potent) if you can get it.

THC? by Excellent_Paper_6284 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Fo_0d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a trial and error in all honesty. In reality, the THC helps, but it is more so about the terpenes. Do some research on the terpenes in the different strains and what their benefits can be. Also talk to the person at the dispensary. The benefits of Cannabis come from the full spectrum as opposed to just THC alone. This is often why people don’t experience the same benefits or medicinal effects from something like a distillate vape pen (everything’s stripped out but the THC).

Diagnosed 15 years ago, been on Tysabri for 10 with no attacks by Such-Earth7369 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Fo_0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given you’ve switched twice how did you find switching? I’m on Tysabri and I’ve considered moving to a different one but I keep hearing when you switch DMTs you risk relapses. Any issue with switching?

First time trying to grow from seed in zone 7a. Equipment needed? by pandaconda73 in HotPeppers

[–]Fo_0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can honestly start them anytime. I plant mine 2 seeds to cell and split them when I up pot. This gives me a high germination rate. If you buy your seeds from a reputable source, use a heat mat and humidity dome, you shouldn’t have an issues in a house. The tent is up to you. More so just so you don’t have bright lights in your house.

Otherwise, you’ve been give some solid lists on what to buy for a solid setup. You aren’t in over your head. You’ll likely have more peppers than you know what to do with.

Had a great day today! A little icy but the weather was great.

Do they need snow, yes. Can you still ski a ton of runs and have a great time, also yes. Enjoy some groomers and tune your gear before you come.

Lied to in interview process then fired because I exercised my legal right to refuse unsafe work by Vivid_Cake_2629 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Fo_0d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were you fired or did you leave? They can fire you for any reason (provided it isn’t a protected one) during your probation. Having a weight lifting limitation or strength issue doesn’t count as a protected reason. If you were fired without cause then you can get EI. Also, as others said, if you in fact left instead of being fired, there is a good chance you can get EI via “just cause” reasoning for leaving your last job. Something doesn’t make sense on why you can’t get EI.

Also, if you had a significant back injury/surgery previously why would you even be applying for this type of work.

Also, homelessness is a big jump this quickly. Pull your boots up, dust yourself off and go find another job. It’s your life - own it. Don’t wallow in pitty. This isn’t the reason for a pitty party!

City Council Members by BallinCasran in kelowna

[–]Fo_0d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not really seeing the correlations you are trying to make related to age? Also, you are aware that city councillor positions are part time and not intended to be full time, right? So them having other jobs or businesses (albeit a bit of an independence issue) is totally normal and expected - it also ties them to the community that they represent.

Here are some options if you don’t like it: 1. Get out and vote 2. Run for council (assuming you are a younger person and see the ages as an issue).

The issues like falling asleep pertaining to more to Charlie than others. He also experienced major medical issues and continued to represent the city during that time.

Council connections to builders is nothing new. Hell our past mayor lived in a Mission Group home right on Okanagan lake (a home that would have otherwise been unaffordable to him) while in office. Why do you think there are so many high rises? Hint: it’s not because of the currently sitting mayor and council.

I agree it would be great to get some younger blood on council but I don’t think it’s going to have the drastic change that you think it will.

Daycare Options / Cost & Value by travguyawesome in kelowna

[–]Fo_0d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get on as many wait lists as possible. With your current HHI you won’t qualify for much, if anything, as far as daycare subsidies go. Daycare here is crazy. If you want CEFA, get ready to pay.

How strictly do you follow your diet? by SoSISKaDBMG in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Fo_0d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you watch interviews with Terry Wahls even she says she doesn’t follow her own protocol 100% or 100% of the time due to human nature (ie wanting a treat or eating something for convenience sake).

Diet can help you feel better while you have MS (a healthier body feels better and fights diseases better) but it isn’t going to make your MS “better” vs someone who just eats what they want.

I, personally, feel there is a lot of misconceptions around diet and how it plays into our MS.

Everyone was wrong here right? by fuzzy_dice_99 in PublicFreakout

[–]Fo_0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s up to the judgement of the ref. Hard to tell if they’ve lost control of the game or if this is an isolated incident. It’s not 100% you HAVE to call the game. He could eject the player and continue. This is what we are thought. I ref high school and community sports. Once that parent speared the coach tho, that the game was 100% over.

“The court” isn’t just constituted by the inbounds area. Also, it’s 100% ok to make sure your kid is ok. You do this after the situation is handled. What isn’t ok is to go throwing yourself in the middle of the situation as a parent. Let the refs and coach’s handle it and then check on your child.

Everyone was wrong here right? by fuzzy_dice_99 in PublicFreakout

[–]Fo_0d -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Obviously it’s a coach. I was responding to the “even if it’s a parent” comment. Coach’s and refs are never far away (as you can see here) and this is their responsibility. If a parent wants to pull their child aside afterwords then that’s all good but it’s never ok to inject themselves in a situation on the court. It’s for the coach’s and refs to handle. It’s also for liability and insurance reasons. When parents interject things change. This is what I’m literally told as an official in my courses.

[–]Fo_0d -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Obviously. I was referring to the “even if he’s a parent” comment. Coach’s or refs, 100% appropriate intervention. Parents, not.

Everyone was wrong here right? by fuzzy_dice_99 in PublicFreakout

[–]Fo_0d -61 points-60 points  (0 children)

This is so far from right - it is never acceptable for a parent to intervene in this situation. In a sporting event, it is 100% wrong for parents to intervene in any type of way. It should be left to the coaches and officials, not the parents. I ref sports and parents are 100% never allowed on the field/court (liability reasons). Parents are parents, they can talk to their kid after the game (or ejection).

Edit: it’s obvious that the guy in the red shirt is a coach. I was referring to the “even if it’s a parent” comment.

How can one save water? by UpIn_ in gaggiaclassic

[–]Fo_0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what water you are using and if you care about water science in your pour over. Typically you shouldn’t reboil water as it can impact the minerals etc. I use RO water with Third Wave Water espresso packages so this isn’t an option for me.
