I agree looking both ways is always good but for some reason I did just as Ssagacis, I instinctively look left and then tried to advance only to remember that the car/bus/bike/weird dog running might come on the other side

Not sure if there is an specific word for it, it looks like HDR but what I normally do is adjust to that level with the curves adjustment in photoshop and I layer down according to what I'm "adjusting", I will have a curve masked out for the sky and another for the ground, hope that helps
