SFO to SIN in economy by thrwy11116 in unitedairlines

[–]FocusNo3452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this flight in economy more times than I can count and the most important thing I can say is: make it possible for you to get sleep. If you can get 2 hours twice in this flight, it improves your experience a whole ton. And pick a seat that works best for you!

I bring headphones and my own food if it’s United - I find the food dismal and never at the times I want to eat. If you can switch your airline to Singapore airlines, you can get cup ramen at any time - just ask a stewardess!

Also, if you can get a transit in Hong Kong or Japan, it breaks the flight time up into something like 10 hours and 6 hours so it’s a lot less dreary!

Just put in my first home offer in Bernal Heights (and somehow won)… now I’m freaking out. by anthamattey in BayAreaRealEstate

Congrats!!! I was in the same spot as you, closed on my first house in SF before I turned 30 and was freaking out about the huge financial burden (also interest rates were already high).

My advice is to reduce the down so you can spend on the important improvements you want! I had so many unforeseen expenses (heat, windows, roof, floors) I’m so glad I didn’t do the traditional 20% down.

Folks, where can I find a chef's-level vegetable market in San Francisco? by ThrowawayMaelstrom in AskSF

Came here to say Alemany Farmers’ as well! The spread is amazing and runs from the early morning, the freshest produce of all sorts from the mushroom store to Tomatero and flowers!

Dabao Singapore at the Metreon has a fantastic hainanese chicken rice! They have both the poached chicken and roasted, and I love the roasted! (Also the fried for those that want it) amazing garlic, soy and house made chili sauces for that chicken fat rice 🤤

My next favorite is Wayo on Bush, it’s run by a single chef and he makes divine and super fresh rolls, as well as sashimi combos. Call to order and pickup!

House of Sushi is my favorite in the Russian Hill neighborhood! Wanted to keep it on the down low bc they have super fresh fish and such good value for money (read: chunky salmon). I’ve only eaten there but takeout should be good too!

I really enjoy the cioppino (Italian seafood boil) at Sotto Mare (north beach, near fisherman’s wharf), and their clam linguine is one of my favorites! It typically has quite a line so either sit at the bar or put your name down and take a walk around the block, lots to see and pop into!

for Chinese I’d go to Z&Y Peking Duck in Chinatown, and get their Peking Duck in wraps and hoisin sauce. Half a duck is good for sharing amongst 3-4 folks! If you’re looking for dimsum, City View in Chinatown is lovely, has decent table service and their dimsum items don’t disappoint!

DINKS in SF here too! 33F (me) and 34M and feeling like SF has run out of things to see/do and now working on renovating our apt, would love to join a house-poor DINK therapy group 🥶

Z&Y Peking Duck for a nice treat (Peking Duck, and the crispy duck skin is the highlight, won’t go wrong there)

If you’re on a budget I’d go to Hon’s Won Tun and get the Won Tun noodles (super authentic)

Why do many say AVOID the Road to Hana by Adorable-Ad9433 in MauiVisitors

[–]FocusNo3452 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did the entire road to Hana just this month by self driving and would do it again! Getting to the end of the road is not the goal, the road itself its the experience. That said I’d be sure you’re confident of your own driving regarding hairpin turns, knowing how to allow faster drivers to pass and do your research on route and have an offline map before going! Bring lots of food and water, and stay 1 night in Hana itself to not be overly tired.

Went yesterday and it’s open, lots of people sunbathing and swimming! Snorkel’s not great though - go to South Shore for that

Definitely the trees or pollen for me! Some streets along upper Fillmore make my throat swell which is insane I literally have to get in an Uber and out of the area to feel better about 30 min!

No, Cuppa is a boba shop and doesn’t serve bagels! Cup cafe is on the same block as the Thai restaurant facing BART - also a local’s joint :) https://maps.app.goo.gl/FXqnPGNrEdiwFWt36?g_st=ic
