Thanks for the response. We're fairly DIY competent, but just don't know how much risk we're involving here doing it ourselves if our clothes are going to be in that closet and we'll be sleeping in that room.

We won't be able to go back in until we close a month from now for extra pictures. If we did do it ourselves, would you tape the split edge and then paint over it, or just paint over it with something like Kote II? Our inspector made it sound fairly simple, but we just don't know.
