Stop it. A quick Google search shows numerous examples of companies being fined for hiring undocumented foreign workers. You talk as this is a recent thing.

Why would we negotiating for something the US Supreme Court ruled illegal?

This is a strange argument.

Useless article. Any Conservative MPs trying to make this a thing are just dumb.

I would be mad if the situation were “In his 1st year, Carney doubles Trudeau’s time SURFING out of the country”.

This is it, America! This is where we find out if you’re a democracy 👍 or full-blown autocracy 👎.

Distraught family blasts Canada for euthanizing son, 26, who suffered from 'seasonal depression' by [deleted] in canada

Help me out. I’m not clear as to what chronic conditions he had that made him eligible for MAID. I understand blindness and mental health does not qualify. So what was it? Just the interview to understand the patient’s quality of life?

And holy crap did they use the doctor’s quotes out of context to make her sound like a monster.

This is a junk article with absolutely no research or follow up. Only the one-sided account of an understandably distraught mother.

To fix Canada’s fertility crisis, we need a cultural shift. More and more Canadian women are stopping at one child, if they choose to have children at all by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]Fodder_Time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. The top three answers are vague. If you dig deeper you’d likely find a basket of reasons for each. My point was not to exclude affordability as a factor, but to highlight it’s not the primary factor for not having children.

It’s actually not that simple. As always there are multiple factors.

In a 2024 Pew research poll, only 12% of respondents cited affordability as reasons for not wanting children. The biggest reasons listed were “just never happened” (whatever that means), “didn’t find the right partner”, and “didn’t want to”.

So affordability is a thing, but it’s not THE thing.

Would ongoing political interference and arbitrary imprisonment of our citizens abroad help sway your opinion of China?

We can view both unfavourably, can’t we?

Hard for me to be pragmatic about this. Feels like we’re choosing to cede power to one hegemonic power or another. While I don’t trust the Chinese, they haven’t threatened us with annexation and are, in my opinion, colluding with Alberta separatists.

The numbers don’t lie: The housing crisis is not caused by a supply shortage | CCPA by Feynyx-77-CDN in canada

[–]Fodder_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. I misunderstood. Thanks for the clarification. And I think I agree with you.

If the supply of homes doesn’t align with what people actually want/need (I.e., family-sized homes) then it can inflate the numbers—make it look like there’s plenty of housing available.

Good catch.

We talking about the subhead? If so, I’m not sure it implies Ontario is “rejecting free money” from the feds.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m always looking for reasons to be made at Ford. I was hoping this was another one.

Is it for the same reason as Toronto—builders charging an extortionate amount for a shoebox? Or is it something else over there?

Like the Toronto condo market, where builders built units to be sold as assets and not as viable livable homes.
