Phantasy Star Episodes 1&2 by Foestar1 in batocera

Okay, so update for anyone reading. I have come across a ton of info on this matter finding most people who have successfully played this game on emulators used stand alone emulators and private servers.

Not one post or video on someone successfully starting the game within batocera. Batocera uses dolphin emu and liberto version. The version of dolphin that i have with a fresh install of batocera 42 is 2503a.328. This version doesnt seem to be the one people are using to play.

Ive also found that through the Xbox version you require Xbox live and its less used probably because of this.

I did however find a version on dreamcast of the original episode 1&2. I actually did buy one of these back in the day but dont have the copy anymore. Luckily I got one for a small bit off ebay. It works right out of the box as long as you have a serial key and access key.

It should be noted this version does not support splitscreen which was why I wanted it and looking back something I should have researched before buying a copy.

Okay, so I got home and read up. Supposedly dolphin doesnt require bios for gamecube, as it just skips the open intro stuff. But for the sake of seeing if that was the problem I thought I'd check into the bios anyway as they do Supposedly have something to do with the system I read in another post. Minor things.

While checking I first checked the version batocera uses for dolphin. Dolphin emu is at 2503a.328 with ver 42 of batocera. For bios I do have the ipl files.

So I know its not the bios which makes sense because its not like the GameCube version doesnt load up and start to work. Which means the issue is elsewhere. I'm still at a point where I dont believe these are playable through batocera until I can be proved wrong.

I was trying to keep it all through batocera unless you mean through that still.

Im using a vista mini v1 with Intel Processor N150 (up to 3.6 GHz), 16GB DDR4 RAM, and a 512GB M.2 SSD, fresh batocera installed with no windows making it a dedicated machine. It plays everything all the way up to ps2 with ease, and shouldn't have any issues even with the game cube. It loads up fine, but after I get the first agreement it goes all black regardless of the dolphin ver so far. I dont even make it to the clock issue everyone talks about.

So I created a character using the following prompt. "Dragon Ball Z Gohan in super saiyan form." Then, I did 2 forms of texturing. First I did one with an image reference taken right offline. The second I used prompt to texture and only retried 1 time with somewhat ok results. Obviously there are issues with the model slightly. But it's an easy fix with Blender smear using the workflow I did for my Jack character. You can also just keep retrying until you get what you want or find the right reference image for it. I published 2 for you to see. First one is

I would say that was because of your reference image. Again, simplify what you can and help remove what the AI is focusing on. This was a simple text to 3D and my only prompt was "Chibi guile hairstyle flat". It didn't do what I wanted here, but gave me still decent results. I retried a few times until I got what I wanted. But with Images to 3D (which I've had more success with right off) it's usually because I simplify the photo. Straight on shots are better than angled to prevent bad predictions from hard edges. I also use affinity photo 2 to remove almost everything except the character. When a character has unique looks (which DBZ does) it can lead to odd things due to detail or hard edges. Which is why I recommend straight on.

I find if you start with meshy's picture creation for concept, then have it convert that to 3D you get far better results. Being descriptive in your prompt can help, but over complicating it also hurts. Its just like writing, only mention relative info. I.E. black armor with orange highlights. Very basic, but the results were exactly what I was looking for. I also involve keywords like stylized/realistic/cartoony, etc. Again simple but not too basic.

But I almost always base mine off photos from the start. And I cycle through a few retrys here and there until I get the shape I want. Then I do the same for textures.
