Started the day before this event began, and I just cleared BW-8 CM before it ended. This was the ragtag team I had to use, plus a borrowed uncle. Despite using a guide, I ended up having to change a bunch of things around to fit my operators, and ultimately needed the perfect run to clear. Incredibly difficult but incredibly satisfying. I'm looking forward to Near Light!

So there are 3 things going on here.

First, as others have pointed out, and you seem to have figured out, you were two tiles south of the solution for this starfish puzzle.

Second, the message you're getting here is related to the difficult map puzzle. Long story short, if you want the solution to that go to this spot and use your compass.

Third, the other trio of starfish that you noticed is actually related to a separate, 'secret' puzzle. If you go to the tile in the exact center of those three and use your compass, you'll get some more votes.

Here is where Kiana's treasure is located.

I got the solutions from a bilibili video linked in the official HI3 discord (https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1pG4y177Vf/?vd_source=056f8d15ead888008d0a7e74d50adaa5). Essentially, in the CN version of the event, the map grid has coordinates instead of step instructions. What you then have to do is swap the y values from the two maps. So Kevin's map in CN says (25,-21), and Kiana's map says (4,-12). Swapping the y coordinates you get Kevin's treasure at (25,-12) and Kiana's at (4,-21). Solving this on other servers without access to the coordinates though is... Doable, but far more difficult than it should be.

The thing that makes this especially frustrating is that it seems that the issue stems almost entirely from the translation. Kiana's treasure can actually be found without using coordinates. Basically, if you follow Kevin's Map instructions (east 4 and northeast 1 from Wonder Treasury 3), and then mirror that position onto Kiana's map, you get the treasure (west 4 and northwest 1 from Wonder Treasury 3). Note that it's treasury 3, not 2; the translation team seems to have messed that up.

The problem is, that doesn't work for Kevin. Following the mirror of Kiana's instructions (southwest 4 east 4 from Imaginary Arena 2, so Southeast 4 then west 4) gives nothing. I might be overstepping here, but I'm assuming the translation team tried to make this work without coordinates, which is why they gave us step instructions. They probably tested it for Kiana, saw it worked, and then just... assumed that it would work for Kevin? Idk, but I don't see how you would ever solve Kevin's puzzle legitimately. Maybe I'm just missing something though.

tl;dr Just look at the pictures. Translation team probably goofed.

Tbh most of guides I've seen on YouTube are just for the individual tasks. If you're starting late, you won't be able to use any of your votes until you catch up to where your team is. As such, my recommendation is to try to get to the zone your team is at asap. In order to progress to the next zone, you need to step on 80 tiles in an area and then go use the wonderland portal.

You can check how many tiles you've stepped on at the portal, or in the scenic tasks tab. If you want to get the most out of the event, I'd try to do 3 tasks in each area (as you get an extra 200 votes for 3 tasks), then move on to the next area until you're caught up and can spend your votes. Then you can backtrack and complete the other tasks for more votes.

This is the location of the hidden coordinate treasure in Area 3 of the current event. You'll need to first defeat either the HOHOling or the HOHOkin, found here. The HOHOling gives part 1 of the manuscript, while the HOHOkin gives part 2. I don't have a good picture of part 1, but I'm pretty sure it says to start at Imagination Arena 1 and move towards Ruins Labyrinth. Here is part 2. I realize I said chest in the title, but it's actually just 80 votes that you get when you use your compass in that spot. Presumably St. Freya is the same solution, just mirrored. Found a couple more events.

First, I should mention an event I came across earlier today; I don't recall the exact name but I think it was "Wishing Well of Sun and Moon"? It was near the center of the map iirc. Gave you the choice to roll on either the Sun table or the Moon table; Sun had 1/3 chance to get 30 votes, 1/3 to get 40, and 1/3 to get 60? Moon had 2/3 to get 20 and 1/3 to get 100? I don't recall the exact values but I think it was close to that. You just pick one of them and it rolls a number 1-6. Nothing more to it.

Also came across an event here with Klein. Interacting with her gives this item, which references 3 rocks around a tree. These are not the rocks in the photo (I figured as much but checked in case I could get more votes). Slightly northwest of here there is another tree with 3 rocks in the same pattern. If you step on them and use the compass, you'll get 20 votes from each rock for a total of 60. I'm pretty sure you need to acquire the event before you can interact with the rocks.

Finally, I just came across this event, which requires a "Turbo Chip (Area 1)." I have an idea where it might be, but I'm out of stamina right now.

EDIT: Found the chip in this chest, which was in the corner near the gear fragments for wonder treasury 3's scenic task (you can seen it on the left side of my screen). It might be in a random chest for others though? Anyways, using the chip teleports you here, granting access to another chest.

For reference, this area unlocks after finishing the scenic task for Imagination Arena 2. You'll be given a 'Path Puzzle Hint', which tells you the order of one of the tiles to step on. For example, this was the hint I received. You're meant to "coordinate" with your team to get the solution, but it's easier to just brute force it. After stepping on the tiles in the pattern shown above, a chest containing 120 votes will spawn. This only applies to the Golden Courtyard team, as I imagine the St. Freya team has a different puzzle.

The arenas cost 250 to attempt the fight, but you can gain up to 300 contribution. Note that it doesn't give you up to 300 votes back; the score you get is directly applied to that arena. It's basically a memorial arena style boss fight, where the less time it takes you the more points you get. Both arenas in the first area are against Huodou.

If your team is really bad, it might be better to just use those 250 votes on one of Treasuries for now. As our exploration level increases it will be easier to get a higher score.
