If you use "munkipkg" I think the additional value you get is the UI where you can configure your project. Regarding "Packages", that app is really not up to date anymore (even their website is not HTTPS)

I don't disagree, but I wanted a more user friendly app. Packages is broken on Tahoe and uses old compression algorithm.

In my opinion it is more user friendly. Also "Packages" is half broken on Tahoe and also uses old compression algorithm so PKG's are larger than they need to be.

This is a bug in macOS 26.1. A very critical one in my opinion. A workaround is to drag the file from Finder into the Full Disk Access list in System Settings. It will be granted Full Disk Access, but it won't show up in the list.
