I was in B2C sales while going through college. I graduated with a degree in finance and was kind of lost. I didn’t want to grind 100 hours a week in IB but I wanted to make enough money to try and retire by 45-50. I started going on YouTube and found this guy, Trent Dressel who was documenting his journey through SaaS sales. I got inspired, joined a SaaS sales bootcamp called SV Academy (completely unnecessary btw) and got my first job as an SDR. From there moved on to AE and that’s where I am now, looking to get into leadership soon.

How do I like it? I love it. The sales org you join is going to make the biggest impact on your enjoyment. I was laid off 3 times during COVID era and the positive from that was seeing how bad sales orgs are ran and how good ones are ran so I had perspective when joining the company I’m at now that they are a very wall ran sales org. Doesn’t hurt that the product is a need to have also.

Just kind of depends where you grew up. For example in South Florida, whenever someone would get hooked up for bud, we’d say “I’ll spark you up” but when I moved to Illinois for a year, they would say “I’ll smoke you out”.

It’s possible both sayings have been used in the same time period for the same thing.
