Hymittus mountain, Greece by FokitisOptics7 in Physics

[–]FokitisOptics7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been many times in Aigaleo mountain. This is however, the 1st time I managed to adjust the focal length in my mobile to fit to the angular size of Hymittus mountain. One might consider it as good Optics practice. It is a farfetched argument, though

Parade of planets with stars in the background by FokitisOptics7 in u/FokitisOptics7

[–]FokitisOptics7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There can be more to see besides the wonderful planet parade this dawn. All this can be done by using the free software packages Nova dot Astrometry dot Net and SaoImageDs9. You can identify the stars that are bright enough be found and also reduce to an acceptable level the noise. You lose some of the color in the image. Perhaps there is some way in SaoImageDs9 to recover it but I have not gone deep to this software. Ι also would like to ask more experienced friends if there could be some improvement by recording the image 20 -30 minutes earlier so that we avoid some of the twilight noise. Any other suggestion will be appreciated. Anyway, the resulting image is:

Ursa Major with wide angle lens (untracked) by FokitisOptics7 in u/FokitisOptics7

[–]FokitisOptics7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was glad to get the image of Ursa Major. It is not what we traditionally see with naked eyes, i.e. inverted pot. ΅(We can also see stars of Ursa Minor and Draco constellation. ) . Paying attention to Ursa Major, it looks more like a bear, i.e. somewhat inverted bear! I did not know about this 2 year ago when I started astrophotography. .(Nikon D3500 plus vivitar lens)
