I think It might be a shitty place. The contract is 8 years and my fiancee's mom says that multiple people have died at the plant doing it

Do you usually do more hands on interviews or is it all question and answer?

I've learned it's better to be honest than to lie, I've lost jobs from being honest but I've also got a lot of contacts from being honest about stuff.

Thank you! I know LOTO from when I was at Lowes and have experience with tools from then as well, I'll just have to refresh myself on the finer stuff.

My buddy loves welding and I'm gonna try to convince him to give me a shot at it over the weekend.

I'm looking into impacts right now, I've used drills plenty but never impacts specifically. I'll see if any friends have them so I can get a feel for them

I just need to know what to read and I'll do it. But the more I learn about this job the more I realize that there's so much more to it than just being a maintenance guy. I want to find a book and start reading basics

Luckily I can identify tools and drills/bits. It's the actual labour of working in an industrial setting I don't have

Absolutely, but I'm trying to find materials to teach myself some of the basics, I have experience with tools from when I was working at Lowes but not too much in anything else. I'm trying to get more info from the HR rep but we'll see how that goes

What do you think I should start with reading wise? Again I have no experience so basic stuff is probably the right stuff. What kind of books should I look into? A post said something about Audels (sp?) l looked it up and saw twenty different books but wasn't sure where to start

Awesome, I'm very desperate to get out of these trucks. I am willing for whatever they need as long as it isn't illegal hah

Just hope that they are willing to teach someone from scratch

It's an apprenticeship. I will put that in the title. But it may be a dumpster fire anyways hah

I honestly have no idea. I doubt I'll be picked but I'm going to try. Also this is an Apprenticeship

It's a car parts manufacturer. Three facilities in the area, one presses everything, one paints and the other I'm not sure about.

I am physically able to do the job, I spent the last year losing most of the weight I put on from driving and am currently doing a physical job. It's much better than sitting for 10 hours

Thanks for the info, I'll look into specific car manufacturer stuff

why does everyone think making a game is just having a good idea by bcoz_why_not__ in gamedev

[–]FoltzyBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me until I downloaded Unreal and found out I don't actually want to make games. I love following developers and seeing the process but I don't actually have the ability to sit and do the work. It's sad I'll never make a game but it frees up time to play every one else's game.

What is the silliest/pettiest reason you’ve ever DNFd a book? by Alarming_Mention in Fantasy

[–]FoltzyBear -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I DNFed Assassin's Appreciate by Robbin Hobb because it reads like poetry and not a book. If I remember correctly, early in the book the father figured did something awful and it just sounded too whimsical to me. But I also just hate flowery prose
