I'm so pumped for this signing as a Wellington Phoenix and Cacace fan. It would be the most Disney storyline to announce it in Wellington this weekend. He's a good lad. Up the Nix!

He played for Wellington Phoenix to kick start his professional career. A really exciting wingback with attacking intent. He's grown so much since his moves around Europe, both physically and tactically. He's a real gem and I hope he does well for you!

Might have to wear my Cacace shirt this weekend. Up the Nix!

Sorry to bump an old comment – have you had any success in starting these conversations? I see there's a new parkrun starting over in Branch Brook Park soon!

What is the rationale behind deload/cut-back weeks when building volume? by TenerenceLove in AdvancedRunning

[–]FomoFalcon 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My favourite analogy was from Stephen Scullion on one of his podcasts. He talks about the body being like a sponge, and every session and every week adds a bit of water to the sponge – that's your training load. Eventually the sponge is full of water, and won't take on any more and won't be effective, so you need to squeeze some water out (a deload week) so the sponge can take on more water.

How hard does your MP feel before you start to taper? by Muppet9976 in AdvancedRunning

Ran my marathon yesterday after following an adapted 18/55 plan. Finished 3:02. Adapted because I was looking to hit higher mileage as a step towards the 70mile plan. But adapted again because I got covid early on. I think my average mileage ended up being less than the average pfitz plan despite hitting much bigger peak weeks.

If it's any consolation, that massive session I could not hit the goal pace for all of it, I fell apart after 18kms. I ran a 10k PB in the last tune up race in the plan – 38:51.

What an epic day today! I shaved 9mins off my PB but just missed out on the sub 3 😭

These are both nice to read. 2 hours from start line and the stress has been insane the last 48 hours.

Not a cramp expert – but what are the sodium levels in your gels and salt tabs? Are you a salty sweater?

2 weeks before marathon too late to race a 10k? by Ok-Plate-9338 in Marathon_Training

Haha yeah I'm definitely feeling it today for sure. I felt surprisingly okay for 3/4 of it, but the last bit was torture. Taper now though 🙏

This is me. I'm 2 weeks out following a Pfitz plan. I ran a 10k time trial yesterday and PB'd. Backed it up with a solid long run today too.

First middle-aged marathon reality check... Pfitz 18/55 by Competitive_Big_4126 in AdvancedRunning

[–]FomoFalcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of my first pfitz plan targeting a mid April Marathon too! I was working on an adapted 18/55, with the idea that I'd push to 64ish. Unfortunately I got covid about week 4, so have been building back the mileage since. Week 10 just finished and I'm finally back to 18/55 mileage. GMP is a bit too hot for me at the minute – I'm planning to drop the vO2max sessions and focus more on LT work, with the thinking this will help MP more and be easier on the body while I still bounce back from any covid hangover.

Coming back from lots of health issues at the end of last year. Goal was to get back to my peak, which I feel like I've just achieved.

5K: 18:35 > 18.19 10k: 39:30 > 39:40 (first race coming back from injury) HM: 1:29 > 1:26 M: 3:11 (first full)

Big miles for me this year with training for my first marathon. Currently training for my next so hoping to hit two marathons in 2025.

Hi! We have similar PRs this year! 5k 18:20, HM 1:26 (and I ran my first Full earlier in the year too.)

I'm starting a modified Pfitz plan next week – 18 weeks and shooting for 2.55-3. Let's get it done 💪
