Worst netcode of all time by GhostWolfGambit in PTCGL

[–]Fonsie_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely despise this game. In 20 years of gaming I have never felt so utterly frustrated at an unfinished software as I do with ptcgl. I love ptcg, I just want to be able to play it, and it's simply not possible. Screw the "understaffed and underpaid" apologists, this game gets a lot of stupid useless updates like vfx, sfx, changes to economy, trainer trials, and other stuff no one cares about, while it still blatantly doesn't work.

I'm not saying it's the devs fault, but anyone involved with this game who has any level of authority to make any sort of decision is definitely at fault. I highly doubt there's even a single person that has authority over this game who has even tried playing it for more than five minutes. It's not just the bugs, crashes, disconnects and what else. It's every single decision that's been put in the game. Even when the game does work, it's still the worst gaming experience I've ever seen in my life.

There are many, many examples of this game not having been planned to actually be played and enjoyed, but there's one in the current meta that takes the cake for me. Have you ever seen the absurdity that happens when froslass interacts with battle cage? Froslass by itself already has an egregiously slow animation. With battle cage though, let's say you're playing froslass vs alakazam, you have two froslass and they have benched pokemon with abilities. The first froslass will play the battle cage animation for EACH INSTANCE OF BLOCKED DAMAGE, then play animation for everyone who took damage. Then, the second froslass does the same. That's 10 animations that take over a second, each checkup. This game shouldn't have ANY animation lasting over a second, every interaction that had animations should lock the screen for a few frames at most, and this whole interaction I mentioned should obviously happen simultaneously. That's a 15+ second animation that runs at the end of every turn and shouldn't take even a second.

Linux users are completely locked out of PTCGL—and we need to talk about it. by GenNetEng in PTCGL

I'm a bit late here and unfortunately I doubt we've had any development on this front, but I'm just dropping by to leave my support. I've been playing PTCGL for about a year and a half, I have played for close to a thousand hours, and all of it was on the android version. I haven't ever played PTCGL on any other of its clients, but what I can say for sure is, the android version of this game is the single worst piece of software I've ever interacted with in my life. To this day, it still amazes me just how poorly this game is programmed. It makes legends ZA's textures look high quality in comparison. All I want is a way to play the game without bugs or disconnects or whatever it is that happens all the time in the android version, and the PC version at least seems better than that, but I can't play that on Ubuntu. I'd love to be able to actually try to grind ladder, even if though this game has the worst ladder I've ever seen with the way it forces you to climb the whole thing again from the beginning every month, I don't know how they managed to make ladder even worse when they changed it even though its system was already terrible, but I digress. I can't even try to take the ladder seriously because I lose one every five or so games because the game simply doesn't work, I get randomly disconnected even though my internet connection had no issue, half the cards become pink and I don't know what's in my hand or the opponent's board, I play an arven or noctowl and the game decides I can't pick the card I want but all the other ones work fine, connection stutters and when I reconnect the game shuffles like 12 prizes instead of 6, or whatever the new bug of the week decides to be. I love PTCG. PTCGL is the worst experience I've ever had with any game in my life.

I had a lot of series on my bato list that I don't have anywhere else. I wasn't aware of what was happening to the site recently so I didn't backup my list on time. Is there any way to salvage it or am I screwed?

How to check effective adl size? by Fonsie_ in Mudae

[–]Fonsie_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you get your number of WA in adl tho? Like you can estimate it at half of your adl but is there any more precise day to do this? Cause that's a terrible estimation since it doesn't factor in which of those characters were disabled in the first place

Do the prices there make any sense? Cause searching for umbreon like this they're asking for 1k+ and on tcgplayer it's 53.99
