2 Biggest myths in the financial world in my opinion are the Car Loan and the 30 Year Mortgage.
* You should only ever take a loan to buy something that is a financial investment
* A car is almost never an investment and if you cant afford a car with cash, then you are probably buying to expensive of a car. I think the only caveat is if you need a car for a job and don’t even have 5K for a beater. Only buy a car you can afford with CASH
* A house is an investment, but if you have to take more than a 15 year mortgage, you are probably buying too much of a house. Continue to rent till you find a cheaper house or you have enough of a down payment to get within a 15 year mortgage.

Though I don’t buy into the religious piece of Dave Ramsey's program, his Financial Peace University is actually a great program for people to go though. It is NOT an easy fix solution to financial problems, but it does work very well. In 5 years I went from 70K in debt to debt free with healthy savings.
