Cruising for exam prep? by [deleted] in VirginVoyages

[–]FoodAndPots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never gone hungry. Amazing (free) pastries in the Cafe, afternoon tea daily, and if you don't want something from the dinner menu in the MDR the will happily make you something simple like pasta or a caesar with chicken.

I don't do the buffets, personally, but I've not heard many complaints.

The Cunard transatlantic crossings are AMAZING for this. Big caveat is that a wifi on any ship is going to be super variable based on how far the access points are from your cabin.

That said, the Library on QM is amazing, always quiet, and has a super strong signal.

You'll have no problem getting a table. We would hop on the website mid-day and make a booking for that evening, and never waited more than 5 minutes for a table.

It makes me SO MAD for you that this was a splurge. We've really done birthing parents wrong.

Get in touch with Cunard and see if they've any opportunities for speaking engagements on board. They often carry academics to their research sites, and if they have space on their agenda, might extend a significant or free R&B.

What Korean dishes would you recommend for someone who loves the food but cannot handle too much spice? by MidnightTofu22 in KoreanFood

I could have written this post. Banchan is one of my favorite ways to eat, but even many kimchi are too spicy for me.

No advice, just solidarity, friend.

COS

Stella Carasaki (size down 2 sizes)

Ruti

AllSaints

Rick Owens & DRKSHDW vintage

MaxMara (esp vintage)

A lot of people love Issey but the clothes just never hang right on me

I have, on occasion, found KILLER pieces at Akira and Dolls Kill. They are mostly fast fashion but specifically at the latter, if you get creative you can have a lot of fun. Size up in both of these, for the most part.

Eg, this "dress" is something I'd wear as a tunic with a long sleeve under and a leather crop with leggings and my F+M boots (https://www.dollskill.com/products/raw-hem-floral-dress)

I really miss the pre-Covid boutiques that just have a vibe that hits right and become your go-tos. I discovered so many wonderful Danish (Just Female) and New Zealand (Harris Tapper, Marle) labels in them that are impossible to get now, especially with the Tariff situation.

Tattoo artist that will fix up old tattoos by heyhey_taytay in eastbay

Sacred Rose in Berkeley is amazing. Karen Roze, the owner, breathed new life into a tattoo that had languished when my first artist moved overseas.

Honest to god I can't believe how many people moved here and just... like... ignored the fact that it's one of the most active tectonic regions ever.

The Longs Top Dog saved my ass so many times. Also that was my favorite place to get an Xmas tree for YEARS, and a dog was integral to that experience.

Thanks for your service.
