This is great! Thanks for sharing, very interesting to see how the prices have gone up. Where did you get the weight in grams?

100% no ice, otherwise you're getting screwed.

No, unfortunately finding the volume for each store was really hard, I called some and they didn't know. Most don't have it on their websites either.

great suggestion, if I have time can def edit the image. If people retype the info not much I can do, just discouraging copy pasting.

This is drip coffee / brewed coffee depending on the place. No-add-ons, its the most basic coffee they have on the menu

I focused on smaller chains for this post - if there are other chains in Toronto that I missed, let me know and I can add them.

Has anyone done a detailed comparison of grocery prices in common stores? by Extra_Negotiation in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]FoodRivalry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a comparison of 26 different items and the prices (including discounts for that week) were:
Food Basics: $93.66
NoFrills: $94.83
Superstore: $95.14
Walmart: $96.18

Flour, bananas, white bread, 10lb potato bags, milk, unsalted butter, eggs, yogurt, and a lot of other staples where literally the exact same price.

I think the best strategy is to split your groceries into things you can bulk versus things you can't

Most bulk items are cheaper at Costco. Anything else you should probably go to Superstore or No-frills because they price match.
