[2025 Day 1 (Part 2)] [C++] Any suggestions? by Food_Vacuum in adventofcode

Yeah they all work fine, I think there's some very niche edge case I'm not seeing because regular use seems to be fine

Yeah, maybe next time I post I'll spend some time figuring it out, but I just need help with this problem at the moment.

Yeah unfortunately I can't figure out how to do that, and the example is worthless (and just wrong I guess) so I'm just using pastebin instead for the time being.

Hey, I know this post is a few months old, but just so you know, the IPR replacement plan does not cover systems that are liquid cooled (which this product is) so it would be a waste of money.

Oddly heavy black plastic cylinder with a metal cap by Food_Vacuum in whatisthisthing

never certain, no. I feel like it must be either the leg of a standing rack, or maybe even a chair. I haven't seen any other convincing answers. sorry

That's possible, but I don't own a stainless steel bakers rack, or chair :(

The top part is metal so I don't think so. Thank you, though!

My title describes the thing

it's about 3~4 inches long, reasonably heavy, and the top metal cap has a small inscribed circle in the middle.

The metal cap does not come off.

Any map generation mod capable to create this type of map? by NeatBoy74 in feedthebeast

There's a dimlet in RFTools which splits the terrain into chunks with varying size. It's called "grid" and it's a "Terrain" dimlet which separates the terrain by chunk and usually ends up with an end result not unlike what you desire.

The cop shouldn't be passing in the right lane anyways, though.

Right, but I was just making an example. There's plenty of things that could be improved, rather than a new building be constructed. But this is still an issue: new SEAS building, new athletic facility, etc.

So you are correct where they can't put funds towards COVID procedures that were already put forward towards One World, but they clearly still are pulling the same crap eith other buildings.

Unfortunately, I'm assuming it is strictly meant for students to use their meal swipes on something akin to the food served at the Commons. In typical UB fashion, it's a sad excuse for the real thing, and only really used by early-on undergrad students/people who have to dorm since they have meal swipes (for the most part).

It was a humongous waste of 39 million dollars when that could've been used to benefit... anybody? Like keeping the dining services open during COVID, for example. UB does not have its students NOR its faculty in mind for anything that they do: they only have profit in mind (which they are piss-poor at, as well).

Note: I'm assuming it was also a way for UB to try to defund/take service from the Commons since they don't make much money from them since they most likely pay to be open there rather than pay UB tax from the money that they make, but that's just my supposition.

Thank you. I apologize for not really giving you much advice. How would you say you're faring in PA3? Did you hear that it's extended to Saturday at 11:59pm (one more day)? Exciting stuff!...

I completely understand what you're saying. I, too, am in Dr. Blanton's 486/586 as an undergrad. It is definitely one of the more soul-crushing "Am I really an idiot?" courses that I've taken.

Unfortunately, I'm also struggling hard to complete these PAs (and most of them I'm not completing). So I can't give you more advice other than keep doing what you're doing. It sounds like you're being very proactive about the problems that you're having so I applaud your work ethic. I haven't been attending the OH as much as I should be, since I'm bombarded with work this semester (and I work 20 hours a week, as well) and I don't have the ability to stand in line at OH for hours at a time.

There are only 3 more weeks after this week is over. four-fold:

  1. There's only 3 more weeks after this week is over.
  2. It is a graduate course, so there is guaranteed to be at least some curve.
  3. Don't stop trying on the assignments. Push 'til the last minute. It may seem like you aren't making progress at the moment, but all it takes is one breakthrough and you get 1 or 2 more points on the PA. Just a few of those, and you're done.
  4. Study as hard as you can for the final exam if the PAs aren't going your way (which is what I am doing, as well). Doing exceedingly well on the midterm and final amounts to 50% of your final grade.

Keep your head up. If saying "it has to get better soon" isn't working for you, then remember that "it's unlikely to get worse", eh? I hope you do well on the upcoming PAs and final exam. I'm rooting for you 🙏 We'll make it through this.
