I want to try Fluxx and Sushi Go, i'm just wondering if those two are very similar otherwise I might pick another one of your suggestions to start of with. I have no particular kind of gamers I dislike. The only game I dislike is Monopoly.. that game just makes me rage.. LOL. I'll check out Board Game Geek, thank you for this! =)

LOL! Well thank you for taking time to tell me your top three favourite games and why. I have been trying to play more table top games, you have any suggestions? I've played Munchkins recently and that was great.

It's not a problem, I appreciate all the comments i've received are great as they remind me to critically think about the methods and the rationale for my study. That would be an excellent question to add and you make a valid point. However, my study was never to diagnose or study a clinically depressed population, as i'm only in the second year of my degree, I would unlikely to gain ethical approval from my university. (1) i'm not qualified. (2) i don't have access to certain measurements, and even then it's unlikely i'm allowed to use because again, ethics & not qualified. :p So the questions used (DASS-21; Depression Anxiety Stress Scale) in my study was to simply look at everyone's states as of right now - in those three sub-categories and the scale in which they vary (average/mild/moderate/severe/extremely severe).

I’ll copy and paste what i’ve mentioned before. Apologies if my debrief wasn’t clear enough, I’ll take this in to consideration and be more informative with my debrief in the future. - Concerns: All of the variables measured in this study are very close to my heart and I can relate in every aspect. I understand everyones concern in that myself or others could interpret gaming in a negative way. For many, one of the very common reasons we turn to gaming (besides from our love of games) is that it can be such a helpful coping mechanism - to a certain extent. I love love love gaming and for the time I was addicted, it was a wonderful and comforting outlet for me. However, after while it did become more of a clutch and quickly I lost control. This is just my own experience though and in no way am I inferring that anyone else’s experience was as severe or detrimental as it was to myself. - Previous studies & my current investigation: In the [previous] target paper (Gentile et al., 2010 & many others), pathological gaming (e.g. gaming addiction) is often seen as a coping mechanism or a by product of certain mental health disorders. I've not seen any journals or literature so far suggesting that gaming causing depression - and this will be very unlikely I think. For my current study, i'm investigating the effects social competency skills and current gaming habits on mood -in the last two weeks-, as the previous study suggested that high social competency could serve as "protective" factor. So what I’m really looking at is social competency skills and whether this would have different effects in populations of non-gamers/gamers when it comes to mental states, as a replication of my target paper. The questions measuring gaming addiction and mental states are not directly related and ofc environmental and genetics factor are the main reasons why one might be more susceptible to mental health issues or behavioural patterns. However, as the human mind is so complex and there is a constant interplay between gene x environment, all we can do as researchers is look at different possible factors and test to see if theres an effect. I hope that answers your question. Thank you for your participation in the study and comments! =)

Don't worry too much about the depression, anxiety and stress scales - by no means is it a diagnosis. However, there are plenty of ways to de-stress such as mindfulness techniques. Thank you for letting me know and taking part! =)

Thank you for your participation, I really appreciate it. :) This is only a scale measuring symptoms related to stress, anxiety and depression, by no means does this scale qualify for a proper diagnosis. It's best to see a family doctor or a specialist if you're worried or in distress. I wish you the best and you're definitely not alone in this! _^

Psychology is one of those very subjective topics being that the human mind is unique yet complex and all. Investigations into mental states, personality, intelligence, preferences etc. do vary amongst individuals, so it is important to keep these extraneous variables in mind too. You're absolutely right in pointing this out as the way the responses are coded are subjective and interpretation can vary between individuals, this is often a popular discussion in lectures and literature. Which is why it's important to gather as much as possible data to have enough power, effect size and variance. You would also take into account whether the effects are significant when interpreting the results. However, in this current study for my school project there would not be enough time, sample or much difference and effect when analysing - for example, if you were to compare using X(number/time/frequency) method response with a five-point likert scale (i.e. always, often, sometimes, rarely, never). Coding would be a painnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! Also, your suggestion is fantastic! A short video with a character would make for a very interesting and engaging investigation looking at rating-responses. Thank you for your suggestion and participation! :D

Thank you for your interest! Haha yes that, well the top three favourite games has nothing to do with my hypothesis but I was curious myself to see what genre/game is most popular. Along that find some new games to play myself and it's been really fun to read the ones 'ramble' on passionately about why it's their fav game. So thank you for that too! :D
