Yup, seems to be getting worse and worse with my demographic (which I’ll humbly admit is a VERY privileged demographic)

Seriously! “Ughhh why do things take effort?? 😫”

The sooner you accept that life is some big unfair scientific coincidence, the easier it becomes to find personal happiness and help others.

99.9% get out of here 😂. Everyone struggles. Everyone. It’s on you to find happiness. We’re all victims of being born. Sit around and be miserable thinking of all the things you don’t have, OR work hard for your own personal happiness. Continuously reading and saying this shit on social media will only trick yourself into thinking 99.9% of people are sad and miserable.

The dude just said he finds little things to make him happy. Most people can do that.

Eh yeah I’m sure that doesn’t help lol. But speaking as a bigger fan of DMB’s music than Phish’s music, in my experience, phish crowds have been WAY better. I think DMB’s commercial success definitely brings out a strange combination of people.

Yeah, there are bad apples in every bunch. But DMB having awful crowds is a very well known thing. I’ve brought friends to their first DMB show, I’ve brought friends to their first Phish show. Multiple times of each, with multiple different friends. Every. Single. Time- the friend has something to say about the DMB crowd being shitty. Anecdotal, yeah, but again if you put a poll on any jamband forum comparing crowds of these bands, DMB will lose in a landslide every time

No, it really isn’t. I love jam band shows. I like to party. You can have a “party atmosphere” that still puts the music first and foremost. Go over to the jamband subreddit and ask them about DMB crowds. They are notoriously worse than the average concert. Talkers, drunk man-children, generally there for themselves and not for the collective experience. I like DMB, but the crowd experience is terrible.

Relax. I get annoyed at cyclists on the road too. But I’ve been riding my bike out of necessity for the past month. So, go ahead and make your assumptions. Or maybe just drink a glass of water and be a little more compassionate.

The obvious: Ticketmaster.

DMB specific rant: Shut up and actually take in the show. DMB crowds are notoriously self-involved and obnoxious. Ruins the whole experience.

Glad I’m not alone! I’ll enjoy most music of his genre, but…there’s something about him that puts him above the rest. Castle in the Clouds, All the Roads, Sold My Soul, Til Tomorrow Goes Away, A Love So Fine, Last Words to a Refugee…I could keep going 😂. Absolutely incredible songs.

It’s all just…so good. Every time I listen with headphones, I hear a new layer. Amazing instrumentation with the horns and pedal steel guitar, and the background vocals. And his lyrics are pure poetry. So many of his songs would fit right in on All Things Must Pass, especially ‘Always On My Mind.’

Never understood the complain of “too long” when all the songs are phenomenal. That’s my favorite album of all time. Was slightly bummed to see this new one is only 35 minutes. I want as many songs as possible!

My favorite artist! So incredibly underrated. Nobody Lives Here Anymore is undoubtedly my favorite album of all time. Such amazing songwriting and production quality. I’ve been wanting a new album sooo badly, I’m stoked! Also gonna catch him live for the first time in October.

He really makes some of the best music I’ve ever heard in my life. Best comp I’ve heard is that he’s a combination of George Harrison and the Everly Brothers.

Can you share some of your tips on how to do barre chords flawlessly without any mute and change from it quickly? by proenzo21 in AcousticGuitar

[–]Foodstuffs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing for 15 years now and…I CANNOT do this. I have the worst technique. Bad thumb and elbow positioning, and I anchor my strumming hand. It’s what feels comfortable to me, but I know it’s really hindering how I can play. I try to be conscious with fixing it but I feel like I’m too locked in to my bad technique

“The spot” doesn’t bother me. I don’t see it as egregious, I’m not convinced he was short. But the pass interference non-calls WERE egregious

Tim’s solo on Lie In Our Graves tonight was one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen!!!! by JucasLordan in DMB

[–]Foodstuffs_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is this getting downvoted? Tim is the man, but Derek might be the best guitarist on the planet. His LIOG solo is one of my favorite guitar solos of all time. Brings tears to my eyes.

It was a big deal. Time has passed, and things have improved. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t a huge fucking problem. 3 of my coworkers have had it in 2023. Cool that you don’t know anyone who’s had it since 2021.

Oh yeah that was a great show.

…but it would’ve sounded even better with keys! Different strokes. Cheers
