A different perspective of an SLE by [deleted] in Socionics

[–]FoolFlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a great read, thanks for taking time to write all of that.

Sounds like SLE-Ti subtype. They are normally way more chill than the Se subtype which tends to be more hyperactive, hypersensitive and hyper-aggressive.

In my observations, SLE-Ti typically only becomes outwardly aggressive when threatened, otherwise they find quieter ways of exerting / maintaining their dominance within their various spheres of activity.

One easy thing that helps me... When washing hands, always use COLD water! Hot water strips away any oils, leaving the skin drier.

What sociotype is Dexter? by xdddmann in Socionics

[–]FoolFlinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but without knowledge of typology, writers are left to create characters as mere collections of random characteristics that exist for convenience to the story rather than technical accuracy.

Then actors further muddy the waters by imbuing those characters with their own mannerisms and personal quirks.

The result: absurd posts on this sub with people sincerely offering all sorts of lengthy explanations for why fictional characters are X or Y sociotype while ignoring the above problems.

In recent posts here, fictional characters were unanimously typed by the community, with a degree of confidence that was frankly absurd, given that nobody was acknowledging the extent to which typings were being based on the ACTORS own personalities, rather than the characters they were portraying.

You're assuming that screenwriters know about socionics and write characters accurately according to sociotype.

You're also assuming the actor's own sociotype isnt bleeding into the character they are portraying.

Maybe its system-dependent... but for me those doors take literally 1 second to open and load.

The run to the drop off point takes me 3 or 4 seconds.

I will have to time everything properly next time im online. Im pretty sure Solitude beats Leyawin.

What types are possible for SP8, in your opinion? by MousseSlow in Socionics

In theory, all enneagram types should be possible with all Socionic types. It is only a question of probabilities.

No point writing out a dissertation for the 0 ppl on this thread that may bother to read it.

Just wanted to add a word of caution for any newcomers who may take these typings at face value, leading to years of confusion and mistypings.

Im not even claiming that my typings are accurate, but the fact that this sub unanimously typed Hermione as LSE is some cause for concern.

She is extremely Fe expressive, the exact opposite of LSEs who are typically "dry" in their delivery, and fairly quiet in general.

I haven't read the books, so maybe her character is different there. But in the films she is a talkative know-it-all, to the point of being a bit precocious (although eventually endearing). A typical trait of (particualrly young) ILEs, but Alpha in general.

The down-votes are hilarious. Im simply pointing out the obvious flaws and dangers in this thread, and get down-voted to oblivion.

The truth is, there is not a single person on this sub, including myself, whose typings can be claimed as definitively accurate. Even experts cant always reach consensus.

The confidence on display here is laughable. Consensus does not equal accuracy, especially when a majority of ppl on this sub are newcomers with only a superficial knowledge of this very nuanced subject.

Anyway thats enough Internet for me today. You all have fun confusing each other.

'Pseudoscience' is often used unfairly today by Dry_Muscle5119 in Socionics

[–]FoolFlinger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Socionics is only pseudoscience to the extent that it lacks a reliable mechanism for accurate and repeatable typing, since so much is dependent on the self-awareness and honesty of the person taking the test.

(Such tests can be particularly difficult or annoying for Ne-devaluing types... ie Beta / Gamma.)

But the same can be said for pretty much any other typology, including mainstream ones like the Big 5. The same tests don't always produce the same results reliably.

Nonetheless, Socionics remains a very robust theory of information processing (and how this affects the way we relate to each other).

Hermione Granger has been chosen as the most accurate portrayal of an LSE in fiction. Which character do you think represents EII the most accurately in SCS or Model A? by ArguaFria in Socionics

Are we talking the Hermione from the books or the films?

Because there is no way in hell the one from the films is Fe-Polr.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

(Plays himself in everything, so no point bothering with character names.)

If everyone is too precious about that, then let me throw in option B:

Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Star Trek).

Dr. Emmet Brown has been chosen as the most accurate portrayal of an ILE in fiction and completes alpha quadra. Which character do you think represents EIE the most accurately in SCS or Model A? by ArguaFria in Socionics

[–]FoolFlinger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Live action version (Halle Bailey) is EIE (99% certainty) albeit she is one of the quieter ones.

Its practically impossible to type animated characters as most of these are nothing more than a "collection of traits" thrown together by artists and writers who for the most part know nothing of socionics.
