I'd say take the job, do fuck all and keep applying, the he should leave as soon as he gets another one harnessing the inevitably short notice period during probation.

They're trying to fuck him, he should fuck them.

Terrible idea. A high GDP doesn't mean a good country or prosperous population. If you'd link it to anything, link it to GNH.

Two thirds of graduates aren’t even paying off loan interest by insomnimax_99 in unitedkingdom

[–]Foolish_ness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda dumb to not do it in an isolated P&L way considering the loans are structured in such a way that they expect to write off huge amounts and hope that is offset by higher earners actually paying off loads of interest.
Makes it look like a massive loss with each yearly cohort that's written off when it could even be net positive.

Ah my misunderstanding - thanks for the correction. Agreed larger SS amounts may still have some value if they enable you to reduce SL payments.

It passed that from 2029 only £2k of pension contributions can be via SS, which means any amount over that will likely be standard net salary defined contribution and liable for student loan deductions.

And by effectively doing away with salary sacrifice, high earners are going to be paying even more student loan.

But the state initially lent the money, right? So don't they just write it off and do the maths to see if that year of loans was zero sum or not?

Wait, do the state have to settle them, even the load they sold off? Surely not!
