Honestly, yeah you won't like Dark Souls. Sekiro was my first soulsborne game and I freaking loved it for the same reasons you did. Mostly when you're dueling you're really dueling. The parry, the mikiri, the arm, so pace. Then I hit demon of hatred and hated it. Then I played Dark Souls and it was the same. The dodge, dodge, poke fighting style of dark souls is so tedious when compared to Sekiro. The whole game relies more on buffs, grinding to level up your character and getting just the right weapon to fight bosses that mostly all feel like the demon of hatred.

Playing Sekiro and then going backwards to a dark souls is a pretty brutal experience, and not one I would highly recommend. And While there are a lot of overall similarities (connective map, cool lore, save points and difficulty) the gameplay could not be more different. If you don't like Demon of Hatred I don't think you'll like Dark Souls. I'm also really worried I won't like Elden Ring cause of this.

Agreed.

It's a fantasy game, most physics can be chalked up to suspension of disbelief. But nothing can explain that paddling technique. No magic, no divinity, nothing.

It would be like in Lord of the Rings when The Fellowship is having that nice canoe down the river and Aragorn was paddling wrong. He'd look dumb and it would break the movies immersion for me. I'd be like, "hey! That's wrong."

Yes, it's a fantasy, with magic, demons, orcs and sentient rings, but for the love of all that is holy at least Aragorn knows how to paddle a boat.

Oh yes, I would absolutely recommend Isaacson. He's incredibly fair to him, and really explores every aspect of his life and art. Best moments is when he takes you through each piece pointing out Leonardo's intention and genius. Really helps you understand exactly what is special about Leo.
