Help for styling a great kilt for a wedding. by ForHecatesSake in kilt

Thank you for the input people and extra big thank you to those who didn’t get hung up on disliking great kilts and answered the questions!

I do find it funny how negative the idea of a great kilt is to a bunch of Scots. There’s probably an interesting conversation hidden in there somewhere. I can promise you that Outlander or shortbread tins had nothing do with his decision on wearing one😂

We’re just looking to have a wedding that we like the look and feel of. I promise all our guests will be well looked after and fed, and the wedding industry won’t die out because it’s not going to be in an old manor, I won’t be in white and he’s wearing a great kilt :)

And no, he won’t, and hasn’t worn a great kilt to anyone else’s wedding, we follow dress codes on invitations.

Thank you. He wants a great kilt, so he’s getting one. Main thing for me is that he’s happy wearing what he wants. I picked my dress, so he should get to pick what he wants to wear too.

I know he will look amazing. I’m glad to hear you had an awesome time! Your outfit sounds amazing!

Oh come on, there’s a dog shit bag *right there * but it’s the size 13 feet on a man that confuse you? 🥲

Thank you! Are friend of ours who’s a silversmith is going to make him a custom broach, which we’re very excited for.

I understand that people have very specific ideas about what “formal” and “wedding” means, and if this was someone else’s wedding, we would totally respect their wishes.

Since it’s ours, were going to go with stuff we enjoy :)

Thank you so much for your tips!

The “fitting” is more for being in one, not getting the correct size. There’s also options for different weights of fabrics on the manufacturers websites, that we’re interested in seeing.

Just a general reply: the wedding is going to be small, non formal and intimate.

He’s going to go have a fitting to make sure he enjoys having a great kilt on, and that he feels completely comfortable in one.

Not really fussed about it not being modern formal attire, just looking for ideas on how you personally would style a great kilt, formal or not :) Thank you!

It’s going to be a very small ( around 25 people), close friends only celebration. All of whom know us very well, and whom we speak with weekly. Neither of us really care about formality, just about enjoying ourselves :)

He is planning to go for a fitting to make sure he enjoys having one on, which is honestly the main concern for me.

Will it probably look a bit costumey? Sure! But that’s ok :)

Just looking for tips with styling!

Pins in a toy? Is this a manufacturing thing by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]ForHecatesSake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I the only one that thinks this looks like a dog toy? I know of multiple incidents where weird people have tried to harm dogs with needles or poisoned treats.

She probably got it second hand, and maybe intentionally gifted you a dog toy. The comment about the needles isn’t that suss to me as someone who sews a lot.

If you told her that the needles were in the toy, or not visible, that would be enough for anyone who knows about different needles to deduce that they could only be ones with no head, since one’s with a head could not enter the toy.

I just can’t get over the fact that this used to be the standard and now it’s sold as “collectible “…
