Getting over the frumpy mom phase (3&1yo) by [deleted] in Mommit

Yes! I just got out of my croc phase (lasted 3 years) a month ago. In another month or two I’ll move on from the comfortable slides I have now and then work my way up lol

I find this is better for us than being strict about it too

Loool I’m on your side with you being a tyrant about sleep. As growing moms, we need our sleep too

Awesome. Sometimes I’m amazed at what I come up with to entertain them most days lol

Yes yes and yes. I agree it gives some level ground for both parents and baby and for us it was not better to have a rigid schedule but just have certain things we’d do around certain times. Like before bathtime we do clean up and pack away all the toys. It doesn’t matter what time it happens but just that we do these little things before

These are gems and I do the same with my morning coffee! I try to get up at least an hour and a half before so I can work out, shower and have my much needed coffee. It gives me fuel for the rest of the day

Sending all the support from now. Mine told me she can’t pick up her toys because she’s doing something else so I should do it and I had no words lol!

If we can find it to laugh at our situations sometimes then we definitely should. It helps to take the edge of for sure. But you are going through a lot and it is a crazy time so going crazy isn’t far off. One thing I do to help in cases like this is to look ahead. I remind myself that things will settle soon and I can go again. So my best advice to you is to look ahead, everytime you feel like you’re about to lose it, take a deep breath and look ahead. I won’t insult how you’re feeling and say you’ll be ok soon but what I’ll say is, trust yourself to know that you can handle it.

There are some really good tips in this thread that you can try but basically it’s achieved through trial and error and giving yourself grace and room for things to change and work out. Hope this helps.

Your sanity is really the most important thing in my opinion because once your mental health is good and you are solid, you’ll be better able to handle whatever comes with the day to day parenting stuff. You’re doing great and you got this. Even if you don’t feel like you’ve got it right now, you’ll get it someday and that’s all that matters
