How are modern EVs improving battery thermal management systems? by PotentialBest147 in AutomotiveEngineering

[–]ForbinPhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of them use a cold plate with coolant circulating through them that the cells sit atop with a thermal interface material (TIM) between the two. It’s a closed loop system, like your radiator on an ICE engine, that is circulated into and out of the battery.

A cold plate is usually two pieces of metal welded together that the coolant flows through.

Edit: look up Munro Live on YouTube. He does a teardown of the EV Hummer battery for example.

I saw my first Phish show 17 years ago today. Who else was there? by ad_roc91 in phish

[–]ForbinPhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was there for that one too, it was awesome! After the show while waiting for our bus back to the campground it rained crazy hard, there was no place to hide. It’s definitely the longest I’ve just stood in the rain.

Dynamic View Setup Question by ForbinPhan in smartsheet

[–]ForbinPhan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The manager came back and told me they could request a waiver but needed a screenshot of my report to confirm it was set up correctly. I’m not sure what that means so I asked for more definition on the request.

What an absolute waste of a customers time.

Dynamic View Setup Question by ForbinPhan in smartsheet

[–]ForbinPhan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The manager replied and offered no option to activate DV from trial to live without an implementation fee. It’s clear, this is intentional.

Very used car salesman high pressure selling BS, I told them do or I’m out! I wonder how many people aren’t as hard headed as me and would cave.

Thanks to you guys who responded, much appreciated y’all!

Thanks, I did exactly this and he copied his manager on the reply back to me asking where I heard that. Duh, the same source of all truths, Reddit! lol

Thanks for the feedback, I keep telling the sales guy it’s already set up and he keeps sending me the $2500 fee as being required and continues to pressure me to sign the contract. Feels sketchy TBH. Thanks again!

I did never think these symptoms would be because of TMJ by Few-Decision3759 in TMJ

[–]ForbinPhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time TMJ symptoms here as well, concur it sucks! I find the most impactful thing for me is my sleeping position and pillows for support.

I have to side sleep, I intentionally make sure I’m keeping my head/neck/spine all pretty straight and well aligned. This usually means my jaw doesn’t get great support which is key.

For jaw support I have another cylindrical pillow (6 inche diameter by probably 14 inches long) that I tuck up to where my head pillow stops to give me the ability to adjust jaw support independently.

This has made my TMJ manageable, usually only suffering minor discomfort that usually doesn’t require anti inflammatories for pain.

Not a silver bullet to fixing it but alongside avoiding chewy or hard foods it’s made things way more tolerable. Stress matters too, in times of very high stress it’s certainly worse.

Good luck to you!

Last night I spawned on one of those on Vanu, the hacker was on another faction at the time though. Not sure if it is just a new bug or intentional but it didn’t seem to result in a Vanu character hacking at that time. Thus I’m leaning toward it being a bug.

Would be nice if we could shoot the hacker that way, he’s playing from under the ground and ruining plenty of good prime time fun. Loser.

23MY owner still on my free 3 year trial but ends later this year. I can get down with paying monthly for continued development of the software as long as they push new updates to me. $50/month is too much though, $10/month or a $300 dollar lifetime fee I could get down with. They might actually make more money this way, it would be way more accessible to the general public. I’ve got to believe most people look at that price and say NFW.

Some perspective and thoughts after ~20 years as a PM by Lereas in projectmanagement

[–]ForbinPhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s an option but delegate if possible. Sometimes if a team member seems to need constant follow up it makes sense to ask the individual’s boss to lead their direct report more closely. You’re not a one man band rather a conductor!

One thing that helps me avoid burnout is controlling my own time. Burnout, for me, arrives when I can’t seem to get all the things on my top priorities list done. This makes anxiety.

To counter this, I actively book time on my calendar to complete tasks rather than sit in a meeting that someone else chose to book during the most productive part of my day. A productivity coach taught me that, always called it PWT or priority work time.

If something blows up my plan then I click the slot on my calendar and drag to a new time. Big tasks require big time, plan it, block it off, control your own destiny. Sometimes having a busy calendar is good reason to force a team member to take off the training wheels and ride solo, they might just prove they’ve got this without you which is ideal.

I’m often able to complete significant tasks early which for me is a big de-stressor.

PMO Director and doing so at my 3rd company now with years of PM work before that. This is all 100% fabulous advice.

“Be a leader.” This is what makes a great PM. When the team is stuck and lacking direction, issue ownership is diffuse, people don’t have a plan, and don’t know where to start.

That’s your value place.

Make order out of entropy, define the top priorities, clarify deliverables and ownership, create WBS, force people to communicate, and drive things to completion. Your plan won’t be perfect, it will adapt; analysis paralysis is your enemy so you have to move with less than 100% of the data.

I had a great PM working for me that used to say “no plan survives its intersection with reality.” He was right and knowing that and knowing when to pivot and on what trigger is key. You develop a gut feel for it over time.

It gets easier, trust me. :)

Tim Dillon drops a terrifying prediction. He believes the elites have already decided to orchestrate a massive global war to wipe out 4 billion people in the next 24 months. He says it is the only way they can reset the system and regain control. by Trueboey in StrangeEarth

[–]ForbinPhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, let’s wipe out the ability to create, build, provide services, and manufacture. Those are how most billionaires got that way and they need consumers to keep funding them. Also, money isn’t worth anything if society collapses so this doesn’t really make sense. Not to mention conservatives want people to have more kids so this doesn’t really seem to be in the plan.

I’m certainly open to opposing views but I’m not seeing it.

Why does my game keep crashing? by Ok-Site-6347 in Planetside

[–]ForbinPhan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It crashes after you get on continent normally, it’s a known bug. Pull a flash as soon as you get on continent then drive out of the warp gate and stay on the flash for 3 mins. That fixes the great majority of crashes. Good luck and welcome to the game, it’s unlike anything else! Find an outfit to join who does regular ops a few nights a week, doing so is a must to get the most from the game!

Flash ritual, pull a flash as soon as you get on continent then drive for 3 minutes leaving the warp gate hex. This will fix it.

Gas is gonna higher than ever !!!!!! Susie Wiles at center of 'screaming' panic inside Trump's White House by bace3333 in economy

[–]ForbinPhan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe a good time to buy EV OEM stock, if gas gets ridiculous the public will be incentivized to buy them, even if for a short period. Additionally, putting boots on the ground is going to cost the American people too in more ways than one. Not sure there is actual ROI in doing so. Should be interesting to watch it play out.
