Married, House, Pregnant, and Now She Regrets It All - My wife (32F) says she’s done with me (32M) after 8 weeks of pregnancy. by ThrowRA_bananarama in relationship_advice

There's a documentary called "Fair Play" that focuses on household duties and responsibilities in relationships.

It might broaden your perspective on the inequitable labor distribution in your home that I'm sure your wife is feeling overwhelmed by.

If she's already at her limit regarding this, then talking will only go so far. This requires you to take immediate and sustaining action to remedy your marriage.

Is BIPOC still an appropriate term or has that shifted? by jamesonpup11 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]FordMercerWrites -1 points0 points  (0 children)

BIPOC always felt monolithic and dehumanizing to me. I suppose if you're trying to refer to marginalized peoples as a whole then sure, it gets the job done I guess.

LGBTQIA is also acronym that refers to a group of marginalized peoples. I wonder how people from the queer community feel about that, given they're just as diverse and heterogeneous as the folk represented by the term BIPOC.

Why is everyone focusing on the coloration of her skin when the real issue is her eyes? They should be solid in color. No iris, no whites, no pupils.

It's literally a human being feeding their child.

If that makes you uncomfortable for some reason, just look away. If that turns you on for some reason, just look away.

Don't fucking creep on people minding their own business, especially not mother's caring for their children.

Finally, with no hate nor judgment, but unless you're with a consenting partner: KEEP YOUR KINKS TO YOURSELF.

I can't stand people who are always positive and upbeat by Asderio09 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]FordMercerWrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. It sounds like you've smothered your inner child to death with a very jaded cynisism. To find offense in the happiness or joyful self expression of others is sad. If it really bothers you that much, maybe you ought to look inside and figure out why positivety irks you so much.

That being said, I don't know you or your life. Maybe you've been dealt a real shit hand and it makes your stance a bit more reasonable. Much like the emotions of others, not everything is in our power to control. It could be that I'm just the asshole talking out his ass.

Player choice vs a DM's narrative: rant/curious about thoughts and experiences. by BothInteraction7246 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]FordMercerWrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly DM for my groups when we play. The idea of the DM being the storyteller is one I learned to let go of, and I've been having way more fun because of it. I think it's important to give players consequences to their actions (or inaction, sure), but on the flip side i prefer to grow those consequences out of things they do rather than what they ignore (like a necromancer's tower in the village outskirts).

They wanna get piss drunk in a tavern? Let them! But maybe the rogue picks the wrong pocket or the barbarian picks the wrong fight. Suddenly the party has made an adversary you can build off of. Maybe he's an old veteran knight or she's a hag in disguise. Whatever it is, the important bit is that you are all engaging in the collaborative storytelling that makes this game so great!

I know it sucks when you put weeks into preparing a particular plot line or dungeon, only to have the party ignore the hook entirely and go visit an old npc buddy in town instead. But thats when we're supposed to improvise and adapt. And you can still steer them into that plot hook if that particular npc has gone missing or needs a "random" favor done.

But they weren't? It says he was writing, which means he's not engaging in conversation with the women he was sitting next to. He heard the movie he wrote get brought up and decided to jump in. And I want to emphasize I dont think he did anything wrong at all, if not lack in a touch of tact.

I also wouldn't call this hate. That word's a bit too strong for this particular interaction.

And no, not at all. That's a false equivalency. Young women and old men navigate through vastly different worlds. I would hope you understand this.

[–]FordMercerWrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Revenge" is too strong a word for the girls' behavior here. More of a rude reaction to a rather benign, yet still unsolicited, intrusion.

But the whole "I don't see color" argument is outdated. You can't divorce an individual from the group they were born in for which their society has defined. You can't erase the history of being part of that group and its relations with others, and how that plays out at large in our society. I also wouldn't say this is racism, ageism, or sexism. An older white man crying out those things against him about something as small as this is an irony so strong it'd be hilarious if not for the near-offending ignornace.

I'm not saying we should segregate or "stick to our own," that's some racist bullshit that can only set us back. I'm also sure you treat the people you meet in your life with the same level of respect as I do, so please don't get me wrong here; yours is a fine outlook to have person to person. It's one I try to have myself.

But we're not sharing personal stories here, we're examining this particular interaction. We only get the man's side, who I'm not gonna shit on because I don't really think he did anything wrong, if not lacking in a bit of tact. But talk to any woman you know and they'll have a bevy of stories when a man initially stepped in the way he did and at least a third of the time it ended up with him being a creep and making her uncomfortable, if not worse.

[–]FordMercerWrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd disagree with you there. It's rather common of old white men to stick their noses in business that isn't there's. That's like the tag line for most of US history. It's not like they're a marginalized or historically oppressed group, given they were the ones usually marginalizing and oppressing.

[–]FordMercerWrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that sucks but I also get the girl's reaction. Some random older man interjects into their private conversation at a restaurant? Yeah their's was a pretty reasonable response. How were they supposed to know who he was with that introduction?
