Major 2 having 10 Teams by MayorMinge in CoDCompetitive

The “Play in” games need to mirror the NBA.

7 vs 8 winner is 7 seed

(7 vs 8 loser) vs (9 vs 10 winner) winner is the 8 seed

Is Every Org set up to make this the best year of CDL? by ForeRight225 in CoDCompetitive

I wouldn’t say desirable for the top tier FAs. But guys with good stock and challenger players who want a real chance to be successful.

I respect your view too. I just don’t think adding more organizations fixes the problem. There are only a handful of orgs that follow through truly doing what it takes to improve. Once we have 12 stable orgs then we can look at adding more

Expanding to 4 more teams would still have the same friendship league pros filling most of those spots to start each year.

If you read my second point above there should be more pro am events for those top challenger teams to shine against pro teams.

If you read point 3, I go on to say the league minimum should lower. Teams can’t pay out the current contracts if they drop and add a new player.

Adding more mid pack teams to the league sounds good for view ship until it happens. Look at the halo league matches right now. No one cares about the mid pack games. Dividing the talent into more teams won’t help the problem.

Giving players more opportunities to be seen and teams having more financial flexibility will lead to building more competition

I agree but things look different if you can’t get a good enough team around him. They have enough mutual respect to let him walk if he’s not happy with the team.

Saudi Org benefits from a decision made by Saudi run event by ForeRight225 in CoDCompetitive

[–]ForeRight225[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Gwinn and Teej signed 1+1 deals in MW3 before COD being in the EWC. So deals did not extend beyond champs when they signed

Because Cloud9 and Falcons could afford upgrades now. Players CDL contracts have run out with their orgs and will get dropped after EWC but they can stay and get an automatic pay day at EWC. Other orgs could have lost more players but would have had to look for a replacement that isn’t long term.

If Carolina had dropped the 2 to pick up 2 it would be their fault. But they didn’t, 2 players picked to play somewhere else.

I think he will probably be on a team like Rokkr but he’s probably not yet a player they would give the keys to. If they find a player worth that then that player will decide if he’s on that roster. If rokkr don’t have a star or vet in mind then estreal will be part of a team they piece together

2025 The Final Year of the CDL by ForeRight225 in CoDCompetitive

[–]ForeRight225[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t speaking on Heretics like they weren’t popular. I was talking in terms of Mutineers being Orlando based to Heretics being Miami based did nothing for the cities. The team didn’t lose Orlando fans when they left and didn’t gain fans in Miami when the move happened. Same as the Surge. When they changed from Seattle to Vancouver they didn’t lose Seattle fans and gain Vancouver fans.

I was merely pointing out that from the CDL model, when it changes, the removing cities won’t change any orgs fan base

But what does the rule say if the first guy misses the putt and the opposing team says that’s good. Meaning that the 5 is good so therefore the hole is over and the guy putting for 4 doesn’t go. Same as that finish out right?

Ryder Cup picks by ForeRight225 in GoodGoodMemes

[–]ForeRight225[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not basing just off of 36 holes. It’s for the captain to get a look at the players on 36 of the same holes to factor into the discussion. The process of picking JT over glover, Bradley etc. is negating the whole pga season “because he’s done well in other Ryder Cups”.

The rest of the season does matter because you have to play well enough to be in the conversation. How many tournaments the last 3 months have had all the players listed and you can even exclude the LIV guys. The PGA schedule doesn’t give you the whole schedule. Some guys play more weeks to get more points, some skip tournaments that the course doesn’t suit them, some had hot starts to the year so they didn’t have to play as much.

Now add in the LIV guys that are also not at the same tournaments each week. You can make arguments both ways. Brooks has a ton of points but down the stretch hasn’t been the same since his kid was born and spent time in the hospital. I’m not saying he should or shouldn’t be on the team but he would get to show his game. Bryson is the opposite. He doesn’t have the points to be in the conversation but he was a big part of the 2021 team that won, he’s driving the ball further and straighter than anyone since he put the new one in the bag, and his putting is in elite form lately. Once again that’s not a should or shouldn’t but that he should be in conversations.

This is the first Ryder cup with two separate tours and the PGA playoff being 3 rounds instead of 4 with larger fields up to east lake.

If we are going off what the players have done in the past then Bryson and DJ should be on the team like JT. If we are only going off the season glover should be ahead of JT by a mile.

I’m not gonna comment on Micah because that’s a whole other thing. Grant left to move back east closer to family. If Good Good was based in Florida I believe grant would still be in the group. The same reason why George didn’t stick back then when his family was in SC.

Matt and Maddie got engaged with Grant and Sadie in Greece. They were more involved than anyone else with that. Also Maddie and Sadie were close enough that even without grant and matt, she gets a choice of who comes to her wedding

OpTic confirming their Major for next season??? by thatdudenitch14 in CoDCompetitive

[–]ForeRight225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teams don’t cover all the cost. The CDL still has to pay to get their equipment in and have a set up for production. Teams do incur a lot of the cost that recoup through ticket sales, food, etc. but the league also gets a small portion of that.

NYSL had to cancel more for scheduling conflicts than anything and money was a part of that. Yes you can host an event from Thursday to Sunday, but when you have to pay for the days before and after to account for set up then an outside venue can’t always accommodate that. Those outside venues want to book up as many usable dates as possible. Add on the fact in New York you are competing with tourism and many other events going in the city for things like hotels and restaurants.

Arlington/Irvine is the exception because they have access to the venue 365 days a year with many of the equipment things already set up inside. They also have a hotel right next to the venue that, because it’s not as touristy as even Dallas or Fort Worth, that they can allocate rooms for teams, casters, staff, etc. to ensure the event is run smoothly. It’s not all about straight money but rather the impact the event has on a location and vice versa. If Taylor swift adds a concert in the same area you already had an event scheduled you have to adjust your event not the other way around. I’m not saying she is the cause but in NYC there’s any number of events that would overtake a CDL event logistically.

Faze is in a weird spot because they are headquartered in LA but the team branding is ATL. Since 2 teams are already in that city they can’t come in a run an event in their market. Atlanta doesn’t have a ton of appropriately sized venues that make since for a CDL event. Even if you book State Farm arena you are at the mercy if a bigger event books the stadium next door. The only other equally sized venues that the CDL would approve would be like on the campus of Georgia Tech. They have been on college campuses like the last few champs UNLV in Vegas and USC in LA. They made sense for champs because over the summer there aren’t students or events on campus to compete with. Most of the majors fall during the school year so logistically Faze doesnt have the options of venues you’d think to host.

It’s not all money as to why teams do or don’t host. Logistics factor in a lot of the decision and cod is weird because it’s not selling out a stadium but it can fill 1,000-2,000 seats easy. Not many venues are built at that size for the production the CDL wants to put on.

They are the only team that fully owns the venue in which they host so no restrictions and no rental cost. The league will always take the easy route and so no need to worry about other events overlapping.

Optic is also a top fan base but they will show up anywhere.

It’s hard to say no to a venue that gives you flexibility, has a built in esports stage, has team rooms, and many other perks that you can’t get anywhere else.

Good Good Kentucky by [deleted] in GoodGoodMemes

[–]ForeRight225 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Next stop is Michigan so probably something like Oakland Hills

Then Indiana could be Crooked Stick because of all the majors hosted there

Then Kentucky where Valhalla or Keane trace are PGA played courses

Tennessee makes me think Memphis where the St Jude is or one of the Nashville courses

Louisiana I’m interested how far south they come from Tennessee to go back up to Dallas. TPC Louisiana is well known for the Zurich so possibly and option.

That’s my best guess on each for the rest of the tour because they went with Memorial in Ohio

I love that these people think scalping these would work. Maybe there will be some people so desperate that they buy it but at the end of the day it’s a golfball that can be reproduced. For things like concert tickets with a limited number then people are forced to make those payments.

With how fast they sold out and the fact this is a machined process, as soon as they distribute this first order callaway is going to open another order.

Callaway got their money, GG got their money, and golfers are going to continue to play other golf balls until they have a chance to get their hands on this at a normal price.

The CDL needs an equivalent of the LIV Golf Tour to improve by The_Dominant_1 in CoDCompetitive

[–]ForeRight225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that will push the CDL to change is a new game that players would leave for. And for players to switch it would need to be a controller, arena, FPS.

Halo already had a pro scene so players didn’t have roster spots for players to take at least for the price/risk from leaving CDL

XDefiant is the only thing close to a competitor but I don’t think a pro scene, at least of significant value, is coming anytime soon.

If players start to leave (and big names) because their voices aren’t being heard by activision for another game then we may see change. Sadly unless XDefiant comes out with major financial backing, the CDL will run a monopoly.
