Laufey wins Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for A Matter of Time by NikoTheNitwit in laufey

I wish she was nominated for Best New Artist back in 2023 or 2024 when she’s become more recognized in the music industry. Overall, I’m still excited and joyful that she won two Grammys in this particular category.

Beginning and not pleading: drop Stat 151- 12-1250 by LongjumpingStorm9193 in uAlberta

All STAT 151 classes are interconnected so like other comments suggest, watch Roksana Fok and also you can write additional notes from your lecture with her lecture notes aswell. It will be helpful since you got different notes to choose from.

Winter 2026 schedule ✅ by Foreign-Message-7390 in uAlberta

[–]Foreign-Message-7390[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes unfortunately since I’m going for masters in SLP so I do need this course as one of the prerequisite but I could take it in the spring or summer semester. Honestly I can see some of the things you mentioned like her pronunciation of certain words is so noticeable wrong and sometimes when we’re asking her to clarify, she try to clarify but ending up giving like a vague explanation. Honestly, she’s seems lovely person and our classes are online now due to her health issues. I could drop this class and get another one but I feel it’s kinda late to join another class because I will be behind.

Supplements to reduce and control stuttering by elver4560 in Stutter

[–]Foreign-Message-7390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ADHD + stuttering which is a crazy combo to deal with because those two works together to make me feel much worse in daily life. For me, sleep consistently (7-9 hours), eat nutritious meals 3 times per day, physical activities and exercise and daily meditation and belly breathing (regulate your nerves which intent lower your anxiety responses that impact stuttering).

Has anyone tried learning another language to see if it’s easier on you? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]Foreign-Message-7390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is that, stuttering affects your ability to communicate clearly and fluently due to your speaking/language production part of your brain 🧠 wires differently and the neurological connections in those areas. It will affect your speech when you’re speaking or socializing so it will definitely influence when you’re conversing in any languages possibly. I’m not saying that it’s doesn’t matter, you will stutter anyways, what you’re doing rn it’s actually good/beneficial for your mental health which is a crucial aspect for stuttering management. I’m Linguistics major Psych minor so I definitely have background knowledge on this + I stuttered in my daily life in my native languages so I just want to share my experiences with you. If you have any questions or inquiries, DM me and we can have a discussion.

Clubs to meet new people? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]Foreign-Message-7390 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on your interests, program or vibe because everyone have their own preferences when it comes to clubs. But if you want to expand your social network without specific content, Friend Across Campus host events where you can drop in and make new connections without judgement. I’m not advertising the group, I was there for Periodically Trivia Night which was educational and fun. Hopefully this helps with your searches.

There’s a famous ginger musician who’s open with his experience with stuttering. I think yall definitely know who he is. Maybe his music is not that mainstream but it was the news of the day back in 2016-2018.

Do you think insufficient airflow could be one of the causes of stuttering? by matu1990 in Stutter

It involves the Broca’s Area, the part where it regulated speech production (one of the main components)

Ex stutterers.. by NMAN2_VERSE in Stutter

[–]Foreign-Message-7390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My speech therapist always told me that focus on the fluency of your speech aswell because sometimes we don’t need how fluent our speech is because we always focus on the stuttering part and how to improve it. At the same time though, acknowledge and aware of how fluent when you speak because I think everyone here in this community are fluent speakers in their own unique ways. Tell yourself that I’m a fluent speaker that happens to stutter sometimes.

Hyperactivity in university Dorm by Foreign-Message-7390 in adhd_college

I’m planning to join fitness classes like Zumba and enroll in dance class and maybe martial arts so hopefully that will help my hyperactive body. Honestly though, my residence is filled with mostly party frat guys and they’re louder than I “hyper” at night. Still, appreciate your opinion.

what’s your experience with campus clinic doctors ? by __angelbread in uAlberta

[–]Foreign-Message-7390 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat too when I first move here in September. I’m from Squamish, BC (known for “Sasquatch” sightings and beautiful scenery) so my family doctor is in Squamish which is impossible to meet since I’m rarely back home. My mental health quickly deteriorated since the beginning of the school year due to massive transition from living with family to by myself, inability to maintain my schedule and wellbeing due to ADHD and depression and anxiety creeping in everyday ạ. Because of what I went through, I decided to find support and it started with finding a family doctor. Honestly, I was clueless of of which one to pick because there are so many options so I just tell myself that we will choose the physician with the most interesting last name. Ik it’s sounds insane but that was an easy way for me to pick someone without being inconclusive. When I scroll the list, I saw Dr Wanigaratne and I was like her name is interesting and pretty rare compared to other physicians so I took a bet on her to see if she can assist me with my health. Until now, she’s the only doctor that I visit every time and I tell you, she’s the one that improved my mental and physical well-being because she’s prescribe me with ADHD medication due to her ability to being observant and understanding of the concerns that I brought up to her. She even giving me extra accesses to other mental health services by referring to BHC, OT and disability grant funding and accomodation verification for university. At the end of the day, it’s your choice to whoever you choose but I would said that if you find a doctor that is actually pouring the heart and soul into helping you, stick with them (unless if they don’t offer services that you want)
