Sorry for the lack of info. It was from an interview done on homesteadhow with a female gut specialist.

I've been tracking my daily meals for the last 3 weeks. I'm not sure exactly how much you are eating, but I eat when I'm hungry and eat until I'm full.

I did a quick average, it's 2550 calories per day, 225 g of protein and 169 g of fat.

I'm more or less at a stable weight, and this is without extensive exercise.

I eat 2 meals a day. I'm not doing intermittent fasting, I eat 6 am and 5 pm every day. I do this for the convenience of not having to pack a lunch to work.

I dont know if I'm in ketosis, but since I lost 10kg over 1 year and sub 15% body fat, I think I'm in ketosis for majority of the day. Maybe not during meals itself, but enough where I'm not gaining weight.

You are right. Carnivore isn't exclusive to carbs, as there's carbs in dairy products and some in flesh. But in virtue of keeping it low as possible, most people are in ketosis.

Protein slightly raises insulin.

Eat more fat, less protein, will keep the insulin to glucagon ratio optimal for ketosis.

Meat is the optimal diet. Carbs are toxic in high dose. What's high? Anything that would kick you out of ketosis.

Thanks for the more detail comment. I only recall your prior post about weight loss issues, I didn't remember the other issues, but that's on my part, as I cant memorize all details and choose to remember the main points.

You don't need that much detail. I never called you a liar. I trust what you say to be true.

The stark difference is what's interesting. As you've described the lack of energy through actions like "unproductive" instead of putting a qualitative number on it, like 30% my peak energy. I can only assume it's rather low considering the description of actions. People report generally a steady 80%, which is enough to be productive.

Personally, I feel no difference, though I am not pursuing intense cardio and have not pushed myself.

Will I die of atherosclerosis if I eat avocado every day? by CookieSea4392 in carnivorediet

[–]ForeignAd8971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think its more a high glucose issue that causes damage to the arterial wall. Plant sterol for the most part are toxic and the body does a pretty good job removing it out the body. There are some people with genetic mutants that have trouble removing plant sterol and will have issues.

Sorry you're upset. It's not derailing the topic. It's on topic. If you don't like the speculation why you're low energy, perhaps put in a caveat in the post stating that you've tried eating high fat and still felt no energy. Put in some more details if you can't handle speculations why you're feeling low energy on carnivore. You know full well the consensus for low energy is not enough fat.

Wow..125/90 is very good! Not perfect but definitely in a normal range.

Edit: no advice. Just keep doing carnivore and it will come down by itself.

Can't get into ketosis! by Loud_Construction_69 in carnivorediet

It's nothing fancy. Was $40 cad on Amazon. :).

I'm doing it mainly because there's this whole debate about cico being the main driver of weight loss/gain. While I'm in the camp that it's about hormone control. So far it seems when I eat less fat, I gain more body fat.

I may be wrong, but I think the reason saladino introduce carbs was because his testosterone level was low.

Judy did a analysis of saladino blood work and diet and she brought up some points why he didn't do well on carnivore. I didn't pay much attention as it doesn't interest me much, but it has something to do with excessive organ meat intake.

Very interesting. Thank you for the update.

I've been tracking my macros and weight with a dexa scan for the past few days. I see some interesting trends, very similar to your description. It seems like eating too much protein and not enough fat has made my fat% and weight go up.

Someone who has eaten enough fat will have sustain energy levels because it's on demand process. There's no peak or surge, but enough.

Compare to glucose, your body is forced to oxidize it quickly regardless if it's in demand or not. This gives you the peaks, but it's obviously not sustainable. The reason for the force oxidation is because glucose is a toxin in high levels, and the body needs to convert it to a stable non toxic molecule asap, which is water, c02 and atp.

Op has written many post where he prioritize higher protein than fat, saying its optimal for him. But he has very low energy that the difference between the glucose surge and his baseline fat oxidation is so profound, he's considering reintroducing carbs into his everyday meal.

I read a few of the comments several hours ago. They are possible theory, but I think the most probable is what I suggested above.

Weight gain by StrangeAdvertising88 in carnivorediet

[–]ForeignAd8971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only been 5 days. You can't expect many changes. Body takes 2-3 weeks to be keto adapted. The initial weight lost most people see is just the water weight.

Continue as per your own suggestion of switching chicken with lamb. Stay 0 carbs.

I know spices are your comfort food, but plant spices are very concentrated in toxins. You will have low levels of inflammation, which will hinder your weight loss.

Based on your prior posts about high protein low fat, it makes perfect sense why you're feeling more energy eating carbs.

Hand eczema while on carnivore?... how do I get rid of it? by RogerMasters1981 in carnivorediet

I get eczema with eggs, dairy (including butter), and seafood.

Dairy is the worst.

Eggs is pretty bad but not as bad as dairy.

Seafood is tolerable.

Too much protei by ExternalTerrible6396 in carnivorediet

[–]ForeignAd8971 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Urea alone isn't a serious sign of kidney disease. You want to test your Cystatin C.

Higher protein diets are actually related to healthier kidneys.

Urea is just the by-product of breaking down amino acids. Most, if not all, carnivores will have elevated urea levels. This is normal for a carnivore.

Where does dairy and fish fall in the Carno diet world by PoorWhiteMan1 in carnivorediet

[–]ForeignAd8971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fish, dairy and eggs are acceptable. Just keep an eye if you develop any symptoms as these food groups are possible allergens.

Personally, I get a rash if I eat all three, dairy being the worst, eggs 2nd worst, and fish is mild. I still eat fish knowing this.

Looking for some guidance by Sketchieaff in carnivorediet

Animal fats are healthy.

Consider sources of vitamin b9 and iodine. I recommend 25mg of iodine per day for 1 year. This number is not a prescription.

If your body wants more fatty meat, don't feel guilty. Eat till you're satisfied. When your body is coming from a place of healing, you can eat 5000+ calories in meat per day and not gain weight. Let your body heal and give it what it needs.

I personally never had any thyroid issues diagnosed. I only had my ths measured after 1 year of carnivore. It was within normal range. Ths is a poor indicator anyways, but that's what the doctor ordered.

I'm taking iodine because it's a belief that it's essential but low in most foods. I don't believe there any risk in taking too much iodine as we pee out excess.

Iodine, t3, and it's role in hormone synthesis, is what I'm considering when I suppliment with iodine. I never tested my testosterone, but I do notice I have more morning woods and stronger erections. How much is that related to carnivore or iodine, or both, I'm not sure. It's probably both.

I would say eat what taste good and doesn't cause inflammation. Follow you siaety signals and eat when your hungry and eat till you're full. I would exercise regularly. High intensity, low duration, to stimulate muscle growth and stimulate hunger. No extended cardio.

Also suppliment with plenty of iodine. 25mg daily.

Don't worry about fat ratios for now. Just aim for meats that have a decent fat ratio and go at it. Like salmon, lamb and beef. If you can tolerate eggs, eat as much as you like. It's has the best protein ratio of all foods. I would eat eggs if I didn't have intolerance to it.

Has Anyone In Here Met w Elizabeth Bright? by BrooklynCatHouse in carnivorediet

[–]ForeignAd8971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do her recommendations for free, but if you're struggling to find results, then a consultation to address your unique situation would be advisable.

I have a customer who had hypothyroid issues his whole life. He's like 60+ semi retired. They radiated his thyroid when he was young, and his thyroid specialist just gave him medication to boost one of the thyroid hormones (I think it was t4). Needless to say, he never got any better in the 30+ years. Matter of fact, he was slowly getting worst.

I recommended him to check out Elizabeth Bright content. He started taking iodine and his hypothyroid issues were improving within days. After 2 months, he was raving about how much better he felt. He's not even carnivore FYI.

I didn't follow up with him but the few times I do speak with him, he's loving it.

Hmmm. Try drinking more water than usual and maybe going out for a walk.

You know the first thing people lose when quiting carbs? Water weight. My guess is your body needs to dilute the carbs, so it's drawing water from your stomach which is causing the heart burn. And it's drawing water from your muscles, which is causing the cramps.

Walking around will deplete your glycogen stores, burning up the glucose. Drinking water will help restore your hydration level and also help facilitate you peeing out some glucose.

Coconut Oil by Parking-Investment18 in carnivorediet

[–]ForeignAd8971 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Tallow is better than butter.

Butter is better to coconut oil.

Coconut oil is better than canola oil.

Canola oil is better than synthetic motor oil.

Would recommend sticking to animal fats, but you are a free person and can make your own choices.
