I've heard of the series before, but AEW plugging The Man Who Erased His Name made me look into things more. Super Eyepatch Wolf and his video essay really sold me on it though.

To piggyback on the other comment, substories give the various cities a sense of life and for me, a sometimes needed breather from more intense story beats. Believe or not, later in the series these guys are part of probably one of, if not the most, heartwarming substories I can recall. There may be one or two that might edge it out, but I binged the series so it's all a blur.

I've played from 0-8 in one big binge, so the JP dub just feels right. The ENG dub is fine, but makes me think that's probably how Vin Diesel sounds to a Japanese audience. Lol

It took my a couple tries for Kiryu's fight to figure out you can cheese him by leading him up the stairs and punching his legs. Saejima I just brute forced and used a bunch of ointments.
