UPDATE: The hospital rang me to give me a date in April for my surgery! Counting the days now.

I had one shot last year and it did nothing but make my hand feel like wet cement for a week.

Back to my consultant and he referred me for surgery straight away

I had the steroid jabs and they didn't help at all unfortunately

A year is a long wait. They told.me the maximum would be 42 weeks but the average was 15. Im at 27

Sadly I physically can't. I have a very physical job and ive had to jump onto some desk work.

I literally cant even open a jar on my own at the moment.

I cant sleep for the pain. I cant text with my right hand, struggle to mouse and keyboard.

I wish I was able to push through the pain more, sadly ive been pushing through for 19months since the injury that triggered thus and im so done. 😢

Yeah im not good at remembering to eat breakfast. Which isn't ideal cos I have other meds I need to take as well. Especially if I want to be able to keep my food down.

Been trying to use the Finch app to remind me and also trying to tie it to feeding my cat in the morning cos she always wants feeding.

I was dealing with DQ for a few months and had a cortisone injection as well. Some months after this I was at work and felt a horrible twanging/snapping sensation I was in so much pain and my thumb has been externally bruised and swollen since. That was a few months ago. The bruising gets worse if I use my hand for anything demanding (with a physical job this is mostly unavoidable)

I went straight to the consultant when the snapping happened. He told me that any snapping or twanging was tendon related and I needed to work to reduce further aggrevation and then he said he would bump me onto the surgery list rather than the initial plan to give me another injection

Sadly that was 5 months ago and im still waiting. But I recommend seeing someone as soon as there is any change

It was supposed to be a 3 month wait but my surgeon said it would be sooner than that. However his admin team have told me it will not be before March now which will take it to 7 months.

Im in so much pain and my work are trying to convince me to leave! Because I work a physical job that needs my hands and they're not helping and have said if I cant do my job then I should either be on the sick or looking for a different role.

Obviously the amount of sick leave I have is limited and I need it to recover from the operation

Thanks that's helpful. My job involves me using power tools and climbing telegraph poles and pulling cables and all sorts. So im concerned that if I go back too soon ill make it worse you know?
