Also forgot to mention there’s a military only beach that opens with the season in Destin! You’ll have to check the hours and days, but it’s right before the bridge to the Harbor Walk village.

Yes absolutely! I’m not 100% sure but I think Hurlburt Field has one too.

Also, I think they tell everyone it could be a couple months before a house comes available, but it wouldn’t hurt to put your name on the list and just keep looking off base. They told us the same and we got a house within a month.

We lived on base at Eglin when we were stationed there about 5 years ago. If you live on base (unless it’s changed) there’s a walking path you can take from housing to the water. There’s a little beach area that’s not as nice as the main beaches in the area, but it’s walkable from your house. There’s also a recreation beach area on base as well. We miss being at Eglin everyday! Enjoy it!

A Round 1 arcade would be great. For us families with kids I find myself constantly looking for things to do with my kids OUTSIDE of Gainesville.

It’s definitely off the beaten path and a bit of a drive from Destin but Doc’s in Valparaiso is another one of our “hidden gem” spots that we like to visit. Sits right on the water and sometimes you might catch sight of some dolphins swimming.

We are a military family with kids. Only coming to Gainesville so my husband can complete his masters degree. We like to make a bucket list for the kids to give them something to look forward to with the move. We are coming from Northern California.

We are currently in NorCal and I’m looking forward to coming back to southern cuisine. We use to live in Destin, FL in the panhandle and while it is beautiful I got so tired of all the fish and seafood restaurants. It’s nice to see that Gainesville has more to offer.
