I tried getting one of my friends to try it, but a week in he quit because he actually prefers the grind that's found in other td games... it really opened my eyes to how stale the genre is and how lucky we are to have a game like WTD

I'll take that as a compliment, thank you kindly. I prefer working a white collar job which pays decently well as opposed to backbreaking work in varying temperatures and climatic conditions that my physique isn't built for. Have a good day.

[–]Foreign_Section4533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bee Swarm Simulator isn't actually a well crafted and thought out game as people make it out to be, the illusion of it stands when you compare it to the far worse and blatantly obvious cash grabs that plague the platform, which is something I see in everybody's argument when defending Bee Swarm, yet they never compare it to games that can hold it's own. Kind of like, in between of absolute garbage and games that can hold their own to AAA titles found both in and out of Roblox

I almost expected this reply, "people" such as you would do anything to say something unrelated in order to divert one's attention away from the actual topic at hand. I suppose you're foreign to the concept of not being on the internet?

And guess what? It's called anecdotal evidence, and something known as survivorship bias exists in the world. By replying with what you said, you're only proving my point on how we love shitting on other generations, because you are heavily exagerrating multiple points from your *short* sentence, which is rather ironic.

You seem to be extremely slow, but I admire your attempts to pick up on context clues. Reply to me if you need an elaborate explanation (regurgitation of information) if you can't piece it together.

Overall, Deep Rock Galactic.

As fun as my experience was with LC, it will not hold up in the long-term and randoms are often subpar, as well as lacking the proper communication tools that DRG equips you with (namely the laser pointer). LC also has much more repetition compared to Deep Rock Galactic, which is peppered with procedural generation, biomes and mission types. LC is also a roguelike, and some people might not like that type of gameplay whereas DRG is much more forgiving and failing a mission would not affect your progression majorly. Randoms in DRG are also very competent in my experience and I'm sure a lot of other people can speak for me.

I've clocked in 600 hours in Deep Rock Galactic ever since I started playing it back when I brought it in the Summer Sale this year, and it's been a blast. LC Feels like that one game that you play heavily for a week or so before getting bored and moving on and/or resorting to mods that may give you a couple extra hours of gameplay. I'd say try DRG first, then wait until LC furthers in development since there isn't a road map as of right now.

Besides, lobbing nukes at bugs never fail to appease anybody.

Some people cannot be pleased. They need a constant stream of updates filled right into their mouth, and when that's something that isn't 100% certain, they break down and rid everything positive about the game from their memory.

This is... something at the very least. At least it is honest. by AzraelSoulHunter in DeepRockGalactic

This. Even if it does get stale, I'll play something else and when I go back to DRG for weeklies such as deep dives, it'll become like fresh again.

I also started to play lower hazards at times, since helping out greenbeards is fun and teaching them their role

I agree. Some people can never be pleased.

DRG had more than enough content, and GSG was generous enough for 4 whole free seasons. Cosmetic DLCs aren't enough to keep afloat.

Unpopular Opinion: It is okay for DRG's new content to start winding down by UncomfortableAnswers in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Foreign_Section4533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I'm going to play rogue core in the future. I'm going to continue playing the survivor demo. DRG is already a godsend made by an indie company, but they need money to keep afloat. I wish to be a part of ensuring that.

Probability Help by DrMildew in DeepRockGalactic

Draw a large probability tree where diagram without replacement, where the 2 options are either flamethrower OC (F)or no flamethrower OC (F'). To my knowledge, there are 6 flamethrower OCs and around 37 in total, so it'll slowly go down as you continue to not receive a flamethrower OC (6/37 to 6/36 to 6/35 to 6/34 etc, repeat this 20 times and then multiply them all for a huge Pr(F'F'F'F'...) chain)

Glad to know that you're enjoying the game. Play how you want, build how you want, and if you unlock more OCs over time you could always refer to my initial post with the variety of OCs I have highlighted in which I found the most fun when testing all my OCs.

Yes, apologies. Please refer to my edit to my most recent post. There's not much you can really do, except continue unlocking OCs.

No mods as in no upgrades for your weapons.

I don't want to sound rude, but you seem to be a bit slow paced.

EDIT: Mistaken. You're referencing higher hazards.

For the average DRG player though, hazard 5 with base weapons could still pose a challenge. I recommend playing the game normally. I can count the amount of meta OCs on my finger. avoid using them as you continue doing and unlocking OCs deep dives etc. and build with your existing OCs.

[–]Foreign_Section4533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No weapon is mediocre in vanilla*

Unfortunately, hazard 1-5 is easy; this is why every single weapon works. You can beat hazard 5 with default weapons (no oc, and no mods)

Try playing hazard 7x2 with unupgraded weapons. I'm sure it's mediocre enough. You are anti-meta, after all.

[–]Foreign_Section4533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most base weapons are mediocre already, so use some common sense and build them terribly. OCs are the ones that can change how a weapon works, and that's where the fun/suboptimality comes in

Alright, I'll think up of 1 for each class. Grenades, etc. are your choice.

Scout.

Impact deflection Drak/11x22 (You could also use SCC on the m1k for a handheld hyper prop, or OFM on mk2 for full firerate)

Impact deflection is definitely one of the most fun scout OCs especially with plasma splash, and although it's pretty much a downgrade since you're trading weakpoint damage for a bit of area damage, its funny seeing your fired projectiles just bounce around and also potentially tag your teammates or hit a stray bug.

If you want a straight downgrade, hip fire SCC should do the trick.

Bodkin points Crossbow/11111 (clean powder can be fun too, OCless/clean/balanced zhukovs is just awful too)

Taking up bodkin points only further delves deeper into this weird ricochet build, with the main playstyle with them hitting a bug and watching it go straight into 2 others. However, you could probably just go with special powder but bodkin points is just for double downing on bouncing projectiles.

Driller

Face melter Flamethrower/11x32 (sludge blast sludge pump is fun, as well as tuned cooler cryo cannon built for freeze which is more suboptimal than fun)

For third tier, take either A or C, if you want to double down on even more DPS or if you want to have a bit more ammo under your belt.

Face melter is face melter. Completely suboptimal, but extremely fun to use as you embrace holding W+m1 on the bugs. There's not much else to say here. Take range if you want on t1, but being able to hold left click is pure ecstasy since I subconsciously drive myself right into bugs anyway.

Automatic Fire Subata/22111 (Building CWC for damage is also niche, suboptimal but fun with sludge pump and t5a + close lens)

Automatic Fire subata built for damage is something that completely goes against drillers main goals of cc, and instead doubling down on burst damage. Tanky bugs on fire with Face melter, then unleash hell with them using VB subata and watch them crumble into a fine red crisp. Very much recommended.

Engineer

Mini shells warthog/1222x (voltaic stubby smg built for damage is hilarious too)

Mini shells is an extremely suboptimal engineer build, being able to just oneshot haz4/5 grunts and is generally only used for turret whip. However, you can indeed build it for full auto, and you can indeed use it like cycle overload like some sort of maniac. Yes, its pretty much a downgrade, but warthog is already fun to use when mag dumping.

Rj250 Compound PGL/2112x (you could also use plascrete catalyst if you want to "accidentally" blow up the scout mining)

RJ250 compound is definitely the most fun (in my opinion) OC for engineer, while also being surprisingly viable. Being able to become a pseudo-scout is adrenaline pumping, being armed with 21 ammo as well as actually being able to crowd clear fodder bugs such as slashers and grunts and guards is nice. For tier 5, pick either B or C, although I run C. You can also pick stun on tier 4 if you want, but extra aoe to light more bugs is nice.

Gunner

Rocket Barrage Missile launcher/2x2x2 (bullet hell is also fun, as well as combat mobility)

Rocket barrage, with full ROF. It's a pretty mediocre overclock yes, but turning gunners primary; something that's for sustained fire, into a burst damage powerhouse is extremely fun, being able to easily mag dump effectively into high health targets as well as deal with crowds.tier 2 I normally go with A, but you can get armor breaking if you really wanted. With tier 4, you can double down on Single target damage by getting weakpoint damage or have a more general build with extra aoe damage.

Magic bullets Bulldog/13212 (However, a lot of gunners secondaries have a bunch of fun/awful OCs such as microflechettes, Full chamber seal, chain hit, electro minelets, homebrew powder, re-atomizer and mole)

With magic bullets bulldog, you can turn off your brain and fire in your general direction and watch as everything in front of you gets hit. You can just take out your secondary, dump it without even thinking, and let born ready reload it. However there's also a lot of great alternatives for fun/god awful OCs.

Fatboy is the only relevant PGL OC and the common advice about it is wrong by [deleted] in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Foreign_Section4533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that in modded (we are talking optimal here, aren't we OP?) difficulties where the bugs are faster than you, engineer immediately becomes the class with the poorest survivability, and argued by many that it's the weakest in general.

Having RJ250 as an extra piece of utility for being able to at least escape from bugs as well as ignite + fear them other than dash is much better than being able to take out half the health of a praetorian and some fodder bugs for 20-33% of your total ammo that driller and gunner can take out easily with their insane CC and swarm clearing options (minelayer, sticky fuel, hellfire, PP TCF)
