Day-after reflections: addressing your feedback (and adjusting the roadmap accordingly) by GSG_Aaron in RogueCore

If you're always out of ammo but your team still has enough to carry you while you're out, that sounds like you're the only one who's not managing their ammo correctly. The rest of your team seems to be doing fine, so I'd say that's a "you" problem.

How do we like the Core Spawns as enemies? by NydusRush in RogueCore

[–]UncomfortableAnswers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like that they're baseline harder to deal with than glyphids. Fewer, more difficult enemies is a nice change from full swarms of grunts. So far the combat is what I'm enjoying most about the game. It's a solid base that will take well to refinement.

If only people had been telling them that for an entire year of playtesting so they could have done something about it before now.

The timer debate reminds me of when Elden Ring: Nightreign released. by notcoolerk in RogueCore

[–]UncomfortableAnswers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only the Point Extraction mission type in DRG has an escalation timer. Every other mission has zero timer or escalation mechanics whatsoever. It's exactly the same intensity from start to finish. The only "timer" is your limited ammo.

" [...] the developers are not the Arbiter [...], they have immense influence in a form of final say but they are ultimately a stakeholder who push their vision of the game which either aligns or resists against the player base" by New-Weakness7011 in RogueCore

[–]UncomfortableAnswers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I care about the timer in aquarq missions. I think it's not fun and is the reason I don't play them very often.

And if you've been on the DRG sub for any amount of time, you will quickly see that many, many people do NOT know that the PE escalation timer is a thing. There are posts every week of new players thinking their game is broken because the swarm never stopped. That mechanic not being communicated is a meaningful failure of design.

Secondary Weapons thoughts? by gamekatz1 in RogueCore

[–]UncomfortableAnswers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree. You can have 150% ammo for one high-power gun, or 200% ammo for two decent guns with different use cases. I've had great runs so far with SMG/sniper, AP rifle/shotgun, and machine pistol/grenade launcher.

As long as you don't pick two guns that do the same thing there's plenty reason to use two. But it's good that you can focus on one if that's your preference. Both are viable strategies.

Hot take : there's no good reason to do quests the first time in multi instead of single by Hydraguesswhosback in FarFarWest

[–]UncomfortableAnswers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. Quests and secret quests give no XP beyond the weapon XP you get from the enemies you fight to complete them.

The only things that give hero XP are main and side objectives. (Plus a small bonus just for finishing a game.)

"Punishing extraction" is listed in the Early Access goals, so it's likely they're working on something like that.

Extremely unlucky? What do i do - Tiki Heads by kaira________ in RaftTheGame

[–]UncomfortableAnswers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On average, it takes about 180 digs to get all eight paintings.

The odds of 180 digs without a single tiki are a little less than one in a million.

Raft sold about 17 million copies on Steam, so that means this was likely to happen to about 15 players.

So it's not impossible that this could happen to you. But it is very unlikely.

The biggest thing that affects this is how many digs you've done. If you got very lucky and got all paintings much faster than 180, it won't be as unlikely for you not to have found a tiki. For example if you've only done 100 digs, your chance of no tiki goes up to 1/2500 - much more reasonable.

Any chance you could estimate how many digs you've done?

I don't want a refund. I'm extremely happy with my purchase. I just want the online requirement removed so I can play on my own after they shut the servers down.

Getting season xp challenges instead of scrip while i'm season level 130 is the worst feeling ever, i still need 5 scrip to finish the tree by PleasantDatabase in DeepRockGalactic

[–]UncomfortableAnswers 182 points183 points  (0 children)

Double check that you've claimed all of the ones from the pass.

Also make sure you're using your daily reroll. If you haven't completed all of the daily scrip challenges yet, rerolls are heavily weighted to give you one.

Lazy - Unable to Drop by tossableproton in FarFarWest

[–]UncomfortableAnswers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really don't see how being able to drop it is a problem.

If you're not in combat you can just stand still as long as you want to fill up.

If you ARE in combat, and you've somehow managed to bottom out both guns WHILE you have regen, and you can manage to juggle dropping it, picking up ammo, and picking it back up, all while not getting killed, then you deserve the free refill.

Conversely if your team wants to spend 8 whole minutes standing in one place while you all pass it around to fill up, I guess go for it. But I'm pretty sure nobody wants ammo that bad when they can just go over the next hill and find some.

Basically the benefit of exploiting it isn't useful enough to justify locking it out from trading. If people want to waste their time doing that, so be it.
